couple of questions re: Bigfoot 17'-19'

Hi, I am currently looking to buy a Bigfoot 17' or 19' trailer and was wondering if anyone could direct me to a site that would let me know what actual year the weight change occurred before the modern weight increase. We are currently looking at a model from the '80s: Does any one else experience the middle floor deflecting (minimal)?

looking at the range of early 17' to Late 19', with 17.5' thrown in for good measure, you are looking at a very wide range of trailer weights. Tell us what are you planning on towing with and it might rule out some of the choices

First, do not believe the factory "dry weight" that is often used by sellers and appears in Bigfoot Industries literature. No 17' model every left Armstrong, B.C. at 1900 lbs. My 1980 15B17G Standard with nothing on board but propane weighs 2390 lbs. Ready to camp it weighs 2700-2800 lbs depending on how we pack. The weight change happened gradually due to larger and heavier equipment. Then there is the issue of different models and their standard equipment. Bigfoot made 3 models in the 1500 series 17' trailer. They are Standard, Deluxe, and Spiritwing. Our Standard model has no shower, hot water heater, or oven. That equipment was included in the other models. In 2005 the 2500 (17.5') models began and weight continued to climb.

Hi! We have a 1987 17' Bigfoot. It has 28 gal. fresh water tank, gray and black water tanks, (don't remember their volume), 4-burner stove and range, kitchen sink, fridge, furnace, hot water heater, toilet, bathroom sink and shower. Pretty much all the bells and whistles for that era. I don't remember off hand what the manufacturer claimed for weight, but it's definitely not what it actually weighs when we're using it! The times we've weighed it, with all our gear in it for a trip and about a half full tank of fresh water and empty holding tanks, it's been in the 2800 - 3000 lb. range. Also, our floor does feel a little springy, especially right where you come in the door. We don't know if this is the way it was right from the start or if there's something going on. The frame looks fine. We've been wanting to put down new flooring though and hope we don't find any big surprises when and if we get into the job! Hope this helps.

Mike the best thread on this list is the one called Trailer Weights in The Real World. Here you will find trailers that have actually been weighed while loaded. The lightest 17.5 Bigfoot weighed in at 2980lbs and the heaviest at 4400lbs.

I am not aware of a 19' Bigfoot - only the 20' 5th wheel and the 21' trailer. You will find the weights for those two on the list as well.
