To prevent drowning or the possibility of being mistaken for game animals and shot, certainly not because people can't or won't maintain social distancing.

Floyd ; may I respectfully suggest you go to The Illinois DNR website
All Illinois DNR properties are now closed due to Covid 19
Their reasoning is listed on the website.

I didn't see that in the link which was referenced,
But I don't doubt it, thanks.
Which website?

I read all sorts of reasons, from remodeling, to hunting season, to flooding, but no Corona Virus.

I didn’t post the link and when I checked the posted link I found the same information you did , which I thought was strange so I did my own search.

I googled DNR Properties Closed. Forgot to put in Illinois but immediately the Twitter
Feed stated that the Covid 19 virus was the reason.

I can't find that reason listed for any Illinois DNR properties, but then we don't allow adult leadership in this state.

The bars and restaurants are also closed for 2 weeks. They can deliver or do carry out. I think the gov got really upset at the images of the people partying over the weekend in Chicago and the bars letting them crowd in.

My university gave me another week of spring break to get ready to take the rest of the semester online. Our conference in New Orleans was canceled (although I was not looking forward to flying, and now the mayor is closing things down there.

I hope that this does not last into the camping plans we had for this summer. We had lots of trips planned.

My family has already lost several thousand dollars to cancelled trips and accommodations.

I too hope that this Corona thing doesn't crimp your travels this summer, or mine either for that matter. They are talking about restricting travel even outside the home in some areas.
I expect this thing will be a dim memory before summer, but the echo may haunt reasonable people for decades.
There may well be permanent implications, justified or not.
Toilet paper hoarders can vote.

Floyd ; If all you lost during this medical emergency is a couple of Grand your doing remarkably well .Hopefully you were bragging and not complaining
.
If I am too cautious , I will get over it and this adventure will be more of a conversation point than a haunting .
I’m a Big boy now so if I don’t get my way and get to go camping or to the bar , I will accept reality and go on enjoying life .
I could spend my time looking for someone or something to blame but i figure there will be plenty of time to point fingers after this is over .

Have to get back to guarding my supply of toilet paper
Hope the “GOVERNMENT “ doesn’t come and seize it
Voting Day is April 7th and I don’t want to miss it .

Cindy and I talked about the IDNR closings yesterday because it wasn't clear what was affected. Today the Sun-Times clearly says state parks and other DNR facilities are closed due to the pandemic and threat of social transmission.

Took a drive yesterday. Did not interact with anyone. Saw some very nice migrating birds including my favorites Bufflehead. Quite a few shovelers too. Rita mentioned this morning that she wished we had a few more eggs in the refrigerator. I told her not to panic, the Canadian geese were building nests yesterday so the egg supply is assured. They are indeterminate layers. Saw a couple beaver out working on Sunday afternoon. Hope they were getting double time. Relieves stress.

Adult or not they were bright enough to legalize a certain "weed" and derivatives. You lucky folks now have something to ease your way through this experience plus shore up the state coffers!

My point exactly...

Encourage intoxication and dependency along with Schizophrenia, and for what? To fill their pockets!!??.
Problem is, it will cost more money than it raises.

Lucky?
IllAnnoy is the largest debtor state in the Union.
I would MUCH rather live in Tennessee, it is you who is lucky...

I guess the Kudzu is always greener across state lines!

Yep, plenty of Kudzu here though it's mostly still winter brown. I did choose TN when the hurricanes drove us out of FL. It's worked out well for the most part but our legislature is a joke. Y'all need a nice statue of Nathan B Forrest? We got a few....

NO ; but I did buy several boxes of cheap cigars to tide me over

I actually wish my home State of Wisconsin would follow the lead of Illinois and close the bars . It could help with cutting back on two fronts , the Covid virus and drunk drivers .
