1 Amp Fuse??

Hello! I went to get extra fuses for my trip and my converter has (one) 30 Amp, (Four) 15 Amp, and (one) 1 Amp. What on earth would a 1 Amp fuse be for???? One single light is more than 1 Amp. The Auto Parts store had never heard of a 1 Amp fuse and so didnt carry them. Thought I'd post here before trying the T@b forum since ya'll answer really quickly and thoroughly.

Ok, after searching the T@B message History (which believe me is NOT easy to do) I found the 1 Amp fuse is for LP. Now why on earth would LP need a fuse??

Thanks!

Melissa

I guess the fuse is on the 12VDC side of the converter.
That is a great question. Do you have a LP detector hard wired in the Egg?

The only place I've seen a 1 Amp (Glass) fuse was in test equipment such as a Multimeter.

How would I know if the LP Detector was hard wired in? My owner's manual stinks by the way. Didnt tell me what the fuses were for or anything.

West Marine sells the 1 Amp Blade fuses online but are of course sold out and on back order and they dont carry them in the store. I did locate a pkg of 5 at NAPA (Good Ole Napa Know How just like the commercial says, lol) so I'll pick those up tomorrow for $3.69. Turns out lots of folks on the T@B forum were looking for them too in the past. One of the moderators brings a bunch to the Rallies and passes them out or even mails them sometimes to those in need.

Now to glue down the rubber trim that runs from the front to the rear of the roof all along the trailer. Going to wait till it's not 100 Degrees here though which it has been the past 2 days! Also will paint they black oil catch pan blue which I'm gonna use for the grey water catch. Dont want people freaking out thinking I'm dumping oil down the RV sewers, LOL.

Melissa,
I'm an ex-owner of a T@da and have attended T@b's rallies. The 1 amp is for the propane detector. If you will not be using the furnace, just turn off the propane at the tank. Did you join the T@b Yahoo group? There is a wealth of info there and we have torn apart and rebuilt several trailers.

NAPA can get the 1 AMP Fuse for me, Radio Shack said they only had the glass style, not the blade type. I did find out that fuse is for the LP Detector. I wont be using the furance (I dont think anyway, is it still cold at night out West?? LOL), but will be using the stove. I need to heat soup for my oldest as her braces are still hurting her when she tries to chew.

Ya Jim, I am a member over there but their answers can be slow coming if at all and sometimes the replies are all over the place so I feel more confident with the answers here that could relate to both Eggs and T@bs. My very first question I asked there the response I received began with "Once Again..." as if I was suppose to know it had been covered and was given kindof a short (I mean in tone, not length) reply so I try really hard to navigate the message archives and not ask too many questions. They mistook me wanting to be informed and prepared attitude as "hyperventilating" (their words not mine). I'm heading out on a 4000+ mile trip alone with 2 kids in a strange trailer so ya, I need to ask questions. They told me to wait till I had my trailer but since I dont have a lot of time between delivery and leaving I needed to get as much done ahead of time as I could even before the trailer arrived.

It will get cold there at night, so take some sleeping bags. Try AutoZone for the fuses, they normally have a good inventory. I'd carry an extra 15,20,30,10,5 and 1, you'll be fine. So that you do not have any trouble with furnace I'd suggest trying it at home. There is a turn off switch inside the cover that may not be on. Also you will need a lighter for the stove, one of those long little gas lighters. If you have any trouble with the furnace, or anything else, pm me.

I think I found 1 amp fuses at Wal-Mart. It's more than likely for the propane detector. I had to install one myself since the Scamp didn't come with one. If that's the case with T@B you won't find any information about it in the manual.

I doubt a 2 amp would cause any grief.

You MAY have more luck at an RV supply shop. I've been racking my brain and can't find (or remember) anyplace that a 1 amp fuse would be used in a VEHICLE (tug). That's probably why you got the .... huh? at an auto parts store. If anything it would be an inline accessory, like MAYBE a stereo....

Found them at NAPA, yeah! Turns out it's for my LP Detector.

Thanks for all the suggestions!
