We camp with a black lab and a chocolate lab in our 15 foot
Parkliner. They're 90 and 100 lbs. and 6 and 7 years old. We just returned from 5 nights of beach camping and the worst part is the middle of the night when trying to get to the bathroom, either in trailer or out. We step carefully and it works. We use 2 exercise pens in the campground to create a big yard extending out from the door of the trailer. That's been a lifesaver! The ex pens travel in the back of the truck and the dogs in the backseat of the truck. The dogs aren't allowed up on the beds and at night one tucks under the ledge of the bed and the other sprawls out in front of kitchenette. It's not perfect but we love our dogs so we make it work. More space would be nice but we're not getting a larger trailer so we all, 2 humans and 2 dogs, just roll with it. We're headed up to the mountains for a long week-end in a few weeks and they're coming with us. Our only change is that we may add a 3rd ex pen to the mix to expand the "yard". We've found the biggest factor with those is whether the picnic table in the campground is set in concrete or moveable. When moveable you can do just about anything to create the perfect yard. The app for finding dog parks along the way is invaluable! Walks are fine but our guys need a good run every now and then. The app was a lifesaver when we took the dogs with us in the trailer across country. Also websites like Rover.com have great resources for dog sitting when you need it. We were at a 4-day cycling event last month and some of the campers found local folks to come sit outside at their trailer with their dogs while they participated in the rides each day. One dog was an Australian shepherd and the other a large springer spaniel. Wish we'd thought of that... we'd have taken our dogs too! Will definitely consider next year!
