4 day 3 night jaunt with our new Egg Camper

Went to Empire, MI and stayed at Indigo Bluff RV park. Drove all over the Leelanau peninsula all the way to Northport. Had pie at the Traverse City Pie Company in Traverse City. !!! Next day we were all over Old Mission peninsula all the way to the lighthouse. When we weren't gallivanting we were in our campsite reading murder mysteries. Great time and the Egg Camper performed admirably. With our Chrysler minivan low mpg was 15, high was 18. Hills or lack of made the difference. Looking anxiously for mid August. Planning on taking it to the Canadian Rockies (unless we change our minds. We've been known to do that, sometimes several times the same day). Whatever, we'll be going someplace.

Bob,
Were you not able to get into Traverse City state park?

We set out on July 4 in the afternoon. Normally, a lot of people would go home that day. BUT, the Cherry Festival was on (didn't realize that). As I was waiting in the state park office, the last available site was being reserved on the phone. Went over to Empire to the private RV park Not only were there many available sites, it was MUCH quieter than the state park was going to be, it was only about $5 more per night with my Good Sam discount than the state park.

TC is the arm pit of the area, just a bunch of Detroit second homeowners and their stripmalls. Anywhere on the Leelanau rocks by comparison. Just my opinion.
