I could have bet on that happening. When hundreds of people decided the only thing they dould do during the pandemic was to go camping, they bought RV's. and I said, yup, and in two years, they'll be selling them. Well, I was a bit short on the timing but I was still correct. They're trying to unload them at 'bargain basement prices."

Not making a comment on your Escape experience especially but it’s a fact that a heck of a lot of trailers were sold during the pandemic and like any surplus of toys, AtVs, boats etc, people buy, they try them out, find it’s not to their liking so they sell. This gluts the market. It has been the roller coaster that snowmobiles have been on forever. Several heavy snow years, sales go up, two or three years of little or no snow, lots of snowmobiles for sale and lots of new ones at the dealerships.
And the payments go on whether the toys are being used or not. That causes some Folks to sell too.
Timing is everything and the fine print Has to be read. “What if” questions need to be postulated and answered. I’m sure Economics experts Are aware of thousands of market fluxuations that caught people short.
As the junkyard near me always reminds us in their radio ads. “Why buy new when used will do?”
“And remember your car is all used parts.”

What Dave said.

For the market now, we might have paid 'too much' for our 2019 Escape 21C, but two years ago used ones were scarcer than the proverbial hens' teeth, and it was 18 months to get a new one. It took a lot of back and forth email, and a 900-mile drive to complete the deal, but we did. The owner was as forthcoming and welcoming as could be, and went above and beyond to help me get started in the larger-trailer, WD-hitch world

It's all supply and demand; but it's more than that, too; we got what we wanted, and were delighted to get it.

We were just talking tonight about how comfortable our 19 was and 21 is. Better camping gear than anything we thought we’d ever own. We drove 1500 miles one way to buy the 19 sight unseen. Hadn’t ever seen any Escape. It was perfect. We camped our way back home then we loaded it up and camped the rest of the summer. A few years later we had the opportunity to buy the 21 from the same folks who had sold us the 21. Back to Tucson and then home. Put on new tires, turned it around and headed for Chilliwack for a solar install. So 6000 miles picking up two Escapes and another 4000 getting the solar installed. When I get
focused on accomplishing anything I don’t give up and I don’t look back on what the costs were. I was raised to believe if you don’t have the cash for toys you don’t get the toy. And there ain’t no pockets on a casket.
Our Escape has been our portal to seeing a lot of
America, making many new friends, and keeping us active during retirement.
Wouldn’t trade that for anything.

That sums up my thoughts perfectly

Ain't no pockets on a casket. WELL SAID! I, too, figure, if I have to choose between a toy and dinner on the table, the toy is going to have to wait.

I've always been of the mind that if you're happy with what you bought, you got a good deal. Goes for just about anything, from a camper to a horse.
