Some of you may remember me posting from Alaska for a couple of years. Last May my wife Nancy accepted a transfer to be the new chief ranger at Fort Smith Historic Site in Arkansas. I had already retired from my ranger job in Alaska in 2002. We had moved there from Wyoming in 1997. I had to dig the
Casita out of a huge snowbank to get it ready for the trip. After ten days and 4000 miles we were in 97 degree heat and I was grateful we had opted for the AC. Just one year earlier I had driven to Texas and back to Anchorage with the
Casita. I put nearly 10,000 miles on my truck on that one. Now we live within a 6 hour drive from the factory. Nancy grew up near here and has family nearby. I am pretty much a Northerner, but I sure like the winter around here. This is winter? Being back in the lower 48 has its advantages. We have been able to use the
Casita every month. We had a fine trip to the Texas gulf coast in December. I camped with my Dad in Arizona in October. In Alaska, I had to winterize by the end of September. Anyway, now that we are settled in a new home I thought I should get re-acquainted with the good people on this forum.
