Ads in threads!!!!! Really????

What is up with the all the ads popping up inside the threads? Do we really have to put up with that? Aren't there enough of them elsewhere on this site already without them being IN YOUR FACE?

Umm,
Did you visit the site without logging in? Once logged in, I don't see them any more.

Sometimes forum members post a link to a product or a suggestion for a product. (I have done this on occasion.) I, for one, welcome this product referral because I can more easily find a specialized product which is not commonly available. I think our forum members are very sensitive to posting product referrals and do not overdo it.

Not user posted but auto included when not logged in. Same ads or products as the top banner and the right side display.

And those ads are clearly generated by advertisers using other sites the browsers have been to unrelated to FGRV.

Yes I did hit an etrailer tire link posted by a forum member so those ads could be related to the site BUT the rackspace web hosting ads are from unrelated activity of looking up web hosting prices for someone. I also get camera equipment ads after looking up camera equipment. Clearly my browser history includes cookies from certain online advertising companies.

Once logged in the ads in postings are gone. They would mostly generate ad revenue from people that do google searches and wind up viewing the forum without being members. A little annoying for members but login turns them off. If the ads are helping to support the expense of the site I don't mind.

Thanks Roy. Logging in does remove those!!! Whew.

Gilda....if you look at this site without logging in there are pop ups everywhere even in the middle of a thread. Not helpful stuff from the great family here, just incredibly annoying yuk!!
The pop ups in the middle of threads is new....so I guess I will have to log in from now on instead of just a quick scan of new info.....oh well.
