(Nest) by Airstream

Moderators' note: We have combined recent threads on this subject so the discussion isn't split.

So Airstream says April 12 is the rollout date. It could get interesting if Nest delivery dates are earlier than those of competing molded trailers. Although I guess price talk has been $40-ish. Still, at least early buyers may get comparatively quick delivery. Plus, you know who can ramp up production.

For what it's worth, Windish in Denver, claims to be #5 nationally, and #1 in sales of the reintroduced Basecamp. They said the Basecamp is about 1/3rd of Airstream sales, despite being the lowest priced Airstream. No doubt stats vary. Basecamp's base price is about $36,000. Of course, Nests will steal some Basecamp sales. But they will also enlarge the market, while offering two clear choices. Three if you include Sport/Bambi.

He noted that the (Nest) will be positioned as a different product line. It is Nest by Airstream, not the Airstream Nest. The logo on the trailer has parentheses, but their text description does not.

As I posted in a different thread, The Nest could be available for delivery, sooner than a unit from Scamp, Casita, Escape, and others, ordered today. My guess is Airstream would gradually increase production if warranted.

Airstreams are pricey but they are quality units. Surely the new Nest will follow the formula. It will be interesting to see how the Nest stacks up against other fiberglass trailers. Specifically, how much more will people be willing to spend to own an "Airstream" branded fiberglass trailer?

Airstream Nest

I will be looking for this - I am interested but it will be hard pressed to spend the extra money - especially since I like my Casita SD and have it modified like I like it.

Looks like they have some interesting options for decor and floor plan.

It appears the interior shots are from both units, and are different floor plans. I'm trying to tell if they squeeze two potential sleeping areas in, much like Casita does with their Spirit Deluxe. That is, a large dinette at one end, along with a smaller side dinette. Many users leave one dinette set up as a bed. Hard to beat those options in a 16-17' trailer.
Bed in lower pics appears lengthwise. Might one sitting area be a desk?
Edit: I can't figure out the lower set of pics. The Nest has a door at one end, and a panorama of windows at the other end. Also, The Nest has round cornered windows on the exterior, but the pics show square corners inside. Hmmm... I wonder if bottom pics are a Nest? Click to enlarge.

I like seeing the "no photos please" sign in the photo...

I think in the second set of photos, the cabinets square off the round edges. So they took the round shell and put in an interior that turned it square. Sort of silly but whatever.

Looks nice.

I generally do not care for Airstream interiors, especially the modern ones. Will be interesting to see how they stack up against Olivers and Bigfoots, which, if I had the extra money to throw around, might be on my list. I don't, however, care for the stark Oliver interiors either. Would take a lot of work to personalize and warm it up.

Pretty silly to take a trailer to an RV "SHOW" but try to enforce no photos.

Are pictures #5 and #6 from a Nest? Looks like a different model?

I'm guessing the bottom three photos are from an actual Airstream. I recently went through a bunch at a local dealer and it looks very similar to the fit and finish of the Airstreams I saw. Also the bottom photos shows a rear bath in one and a full size bed with night stands in the other. I don't think you could get those options in a Nest unless they are going to make them 8 1/2 ft. wide like the Aluminum trailers.

I'm not in the market for a new camper but, I would really like to see the Nest in person as well and also the specifications. How heavy will it be to make it "nice". The light weight aluminum camper that Airstream started out with is now really heavy. I like my Scamp for the reason that it is simple and light. If they want to sell me let's see some serious use of carbon fiber to keep the weight down.

I heard that Airstream decided to put a conventional frame under the Nest.
Can anyone confirm this?

I really like the way the exterior looks. And the windows. After getting used to my Bigfoot, though, everything just looks so small...

There are two Nests at that show, so I would assume they have different interiors, otherwise, what's the point? I can't say if the bottom photos are definitely in a Nest or not, but it makes sense to me.

Ah I think I see now...The photo of the bed, I'm guessing, is not a Nest. All others are. One nest has a front dinette, the other a front bathroom. At least that's what I'm seeing.
