Already lost the key the joy of having a camper

well i have only had my uhaul CT13 for 3 days now and I have already lost the key. Any suggestions ???? I guess I can take the lock out and take it to a locksmith. there is a tag in one of the cabinets that has a key # but i think that is there from when it was a rental. Next time i will listen I was told to stop and get a key made on the way home the day I got it.

Thanks

I had to pull the assembly and take it to a locksmith with my first Burro. You are not alone.

Fortunately, it was not very expensive at all, I got out of there with 2 new keys for less than 25 bucks.

Belive this.."you will lock yourself out by accident if you dont get one"

Bruce, do you have the part number for that bargman lock?
Mine has a key, but I cannot get it to lock from the inside (so I have to put my hand out the window and use my key in the outside lock - must be pretty funny looking to the other campers)

I think the U-haul used the Bargman L300. I just Googled that and turned up a lot of suppliers.

(The L400 is discontinued and elusive; not so for the L300.)

I found a couple L400 Lock repair kits at a little local rv shop just a sittin on the shelf and I bought them both, figured I may need them one day. Of course I am guilty of having one key as well so tommorow I will go get another made.

Of course I need to use one on the second burro I got as it needs repair but I will still have one spare for mine should I need it.

Pam.you wont like what a new lock assy costs .....seeings you have the key and it works etc.I'd guess your lock plunger thing just needs some cleaning and lube....the entire assy isnt hard to remove and is quite easy to replace springs and the lock on.....Bruce

Pam,

If you want to take a look for yourself (and you know what you need, and your budget, whereas I don't), PPL has not only the whole lock assembly (~$79), but also sells keyed cylinders (with keys) (~$12) and the inside and outside assembly separately if you don't need it all (outside ~$66; inside ~$27)

RV Door Lock (L-300 for Motorhomes) on Sale

Of course maybe yours can be fixed - but nice to have options with the L-300.
