American Boler Travel Trailers

Just came across this. Read the small print at the bottom. It'll be interesting to see more.

Sadly, the registrant of the americanboler.com web site is a marketing/branding company Creative Beast in Bend, OR and Santa Monica, CA, so that doesn't tell much.

Looks nice, but despite the disclaimer in the small print, I dislike the re-use of the Boler name.

A little web searching leads me to believe this is the creation of artist/birdhouse and furniture maker/egg restorer Robert Johans in Bend, Oregon - a long time poster to this forum.

Hope it is not vaporware. And, if not, that there are longer sizes than 13'. I like all the windows.

Well, if the American Boler peeps are reading, here's a hot tip:

There is a former Ragin'/FEMA (and others) trailer building factory sitting empty in Riverside, CA, just begging for a new occupant. Add to that, there are hundreds of former National RV and Fleetwood RV employees, with a bazillion years of RV building experience, in the area that could staff that facility faster that you can say "Lightweight Molded Fiberglass RV's Rule".

Seems to me it makes sense to build where the nations biggest market for your product is located!!!!

Suspect at this point they are just wanting to secure the website name and the trade mark to the name.

The High Desert Design Council (Bend, OR) indicates on its website that the following award was made: Best Use of Technology: Robert Johans American Boler

Ok, based on what we know, lets speculate...

I think that this is a startup venture in its concept stage. If it flies, likely it will be a small operation like Lil Snoozy, Eggcamper and Parkliner - the traditional way a small business starts. Indeed, the owner seems to have lots of experience with molded fiberglass trailers from his other business - more than some of the other successful startups - so his chances are perhaps better than most. His Egg renovation efforts have been well documented on this site and look professional to me.

The current one page site is likely just a placeholder for things planned to come, and serves the secondary purpose of establishing the use of the trademark which was just registered in September.

It takes a lot money, time and effort to start a trailer manufacturing operation so I wouldn't expect major developments overnight - lets keep our fingers crossed and give this a chance to succeed without a lot of negativity. So far nothing has been promised, so there is nothing to criticize. In this world of big business, globalization and importation of manufactured products, its nice to see American entrepreneurs testing the waters and giving it a shot.

Those who have attended the Bandon meet have also gotten to see his work first hand and its indeed very professional.

As others have said, it makes sense that the one internet page is a place-holder.

I knew some internet sleuths here would uncover some more info. I just didn't know how long that page had been up, as to whether this was a promising new outfit or had been out there for donkey's years like the Burro website.

(Joke - donkey, burro; get it?)

Well the fact the name was trademarked only in September would indicate its pretty new.

I would love to see that photo become a real fiberglass RV at a campsite next to me! We can't have too many well crafted eggs out there plus opening a new business for a bunch of workers can only be a good thing!

I'm with you- that's just not right.

I love the bit in the ever-so-faint print at the bottom of the page:

"In no way associated with the Canadian Boler"

R-i-i-i-i-ght- except that the purpose of using the Boler name is so that buyers will make that association!

If this was going on in China instead of Bend, Oregon, we'd be raising all kinds of H-e-double-pitchforks about it.

Francesca

Thanks Francesca for your concern for preserving the Boler name for your Canadian neighbors's but as your aware we have historically been pretty polite about others outside the county using the name. Suspect we would be equally polite about it if it was happening in China as they are our second largest trading partner.
