Another month gone!

I am still planning to head to the northwest US this year, maybe next month. For now, it will be a trip to my boondocking lot with some amateur radio operators for Labor Day weekend.
That and planning for the epic road trip if I can get a Washington state map. After three requests online from the state’s tourism firm, I ordered one on Amazon. (Yes, I still carry paper maps beside me as I drive.)

The Washington State Parks in the NW are beautiful. I hope you make it up there to visit.

Garmins can fail as can cell service.

My best GPS fail ever

The best fail I ever had was in western Iowa. It recommended a route that had last seen traffic 100 years ago, and that was a cattle drive!

We keep an Atlas in the van when traveling -- never hurts to have the paper when the electronics fail. There are more places in the US where cell will fail than the commercials lead us to believe. Sections of Alabama are also blank -- a whole country in Ill after you leave I-72 heading towards Lake of the Ozarks, several places in NE Missouri..... and that is just the ones I have found...

A few years back I started a thread you might find useful:

http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f...las-62440.html

Since that time American map appears to now be American Highway:

American Highway Road Atlas (Large Format)

Don't wait too long and plan your route carefully or you could be towing in the snow. Safe travels.

A whole lot of driving to only see a bit of washington. Program in more visiting in washington and you will be pleased. It is a beautiful state. Think Mt rainier, pacific coast, etc.
