Even though it's not a big deal for most of you, we rarely ever see snow here, this makes 2 years in a row, so I had to post this:

It snowed for about a half an hour, around noon, here in central Texas today. It was about 38ºF so it melted before or as it hit the ground...

Pretty!

And... is that a new access door on the port side? Looks nice with the radiused corners Are you putting a 3-way fridge in, or is it for the dorm 'fridge or are you cooking up some other fiendishly clever plan.

Do I see palm trees in the background? I would think a little snow would actually be fun for you down in Texas. Am I right? Now if I were headed there for the winter warmth, I would not be happy! Here it is snowing and we may not see the ground again until April. Now that is really depressing!

Up here in the frozen north we'd call that a heavy frost!

Red face

I was a Freshman in college in Lubbock before I saw my first snow, but Houston was and still is some 300 miles north of Harlingen my home.

We do NOT see a lot here in Las Cruces, but have had two snows this week. Wow!

The first photo is from Tuesday from the Las Cruces Sun News photo. The others are mine from today, but I was late getting out 1:30 pm. Snow was starting to get sparce by then, roads were dry, but earlier in morning it was icy and schools were closed today. Sunny by the time I got out and about.

Our snows are neat, we get to see the neat white stuff, then in a day or at most two, mostly in a few hours at times, it is gone.

The fact that we got any snow at all makes us pretty excited around here, since most of the time all we get is cold rain, rain, rain in the winter. We have a fairly tropical back yard, the previous tenant liked to plant palms and banana trees, not to mention we live on the edge of a run off bayou which is overrun with all kinds of tropical plants, vines, etc.

Yes that is a new access vent for our new 3 way fridge. We are still in the process of installing the propane line, still have to run the 12v line, and build the closure around the back of the fridge so it vents out the back properly and not into the cabinet. We are getting close to having our mods finished, so I can get back to cleaning it up and putting it back together for use! I will post updated photos when the work is complete. There are a few more projects we want to get finished with between now and next spring.

Happy Holidays Everybody!!

April, we are visiting Corpus Christi from Oregon with our little 13' Scamp and the weather has been a real eye opener. Enjoying the warm, tropical breezes (ha ha). Everyone tells us this is so unusual but can't wait for the warmth to come. Hope we didn't bring this with us.

We may be on the 3rd coast, but we still get some cold weather down this way, it is just usually coupled with rain, which makes for a miserable experience. We also get large variations in temperature, 30's one day, 80's the next. I hope you enjoy your visit to Corpus Karen.

Karen, snow can be fun.
Don't come back thru Colorado on your way home cause we have the snow plus the cold weather. Wind Chill was -11 this morning, our high yesterday was 10 degrees. Today is suppose to be colder.

Hope our weather isn't sliding down and killing all your beautiful plants April. A little snow is one thing, but your tropical yard probably wouldn't like this cold snap.

Arrow

This week in most of the country, it wouldn't be wise to be out and about, but in a week or so, maybe in a day or so, it should be different. Unless we have crossed over into a whole new weather era. Not as bad perhaps down in South Texas, we are getting very bad winds today, temps not bad at all.

Crazy weather out there, be safe and stay warm! This is why we decided to wait until May to start traveling across the U.S. Hopefully, we won't have too many bumps in the road ahead...
