Hey, if any of you out there know of a great forum (like this one) except for commercial printers, PLEASE give me a shout, I mean a link!

or, if you are familiar with GTOs, I can ask you!

Thanks a million!
(Rush job: but aren't they all?)

Sorry, I didn't see your March 1st post. Don't know how I missed it. I ran a Heidelberg Windmill for fifteen years but I guess that won't help.
Papyrus Printing in Prince George has a GTO 52 but I guess that you know that.

I thought perhaps Charlynn was asking about a brand of car...the GTO. And since I drive Fords, didn't think I'd be much help

Back in the dark ages, we had to learn to do that to pass the eighth grade---not sure why, but I remember trying to properly space those little buggers.

Diane

P. S. I owned a GTO once----terrible car around corners. What is a GTO in commercial printing?

Many, many years ago, I lived in Ohio. We had a saying there about how West Virginians would go out and buy their "GTO" cars. Of course, we all knew that meant... "Go To Ohio" cars.

Darwin, there's this new thing now called "pagination". No more cold type left in the newspaper business. Guess Macs rule these days...

Youse guys are great!

I got a PM from a member (thanks, Donna S and hubby!) who sent me a link that was EXTREMELY helpful, I think may have solved the problem. What a great forum!

Darwin, I started out in printing in the 70s, placing those little lead letters one at a time backwards -- it helped me understand what "leading" meant when I got to work on my first Mac.

Donna D, the in/op Damping Unit (looks like three little metal rollers) apparently cost $20,000 many moons ago, don't know what the whole GTO press cost! More than any car?

Here's something you might not need to know: our "new" damping unit is a "bareback," that is, not covered with fabric, apparently bare metal provides sharper images. I asked the Pressman, "So you mean, it's, like naked?" He nodded.

Your Nude Printing Specialist,
Char

Thanks again to all who read/responded.

Char,
You may never need to scrub your "Hickey Picker" again.

Oh good, I'm glad hubby and I were able to help. We even learned something in the process!

I know how frustrating it can be... the machinery is not cooperating... your just trying to get your work done because all you want is a few bucks in your pocket so that you can sink it into an egg and go camping.

All the best!
