Are Travel Trailers RVs?
I have had my Casita since Sept. I stay in RV parks 99% of the time. I subscribe to RVtravel.com, I am a Good Sam member. I am an active member here and on the Casita and Scamp forums.
It seems to me that RVs by definition are recreational vehicles. It also seems to me that Travel trailers are recreational vehicles, but those of us with travel trailers are not known as RVers. Generally speaking other than size, construction techniques and materials , and the fact that Unitized Recreational Vehicles ( that being a vehicle used for sleeping in, eating in, etc and being self propelled, not towed) our equipment is the same. More to the point we generally use our TT or URV ( unitized recreational vehicle) for the same purpose.
I get the feeling that owners of TT and owners of RVs, when walking thru an RV park greet each other the same without regard or knowledge of which vehicle the other came out of.
I do not like being placed in an RV site, with a gigantic class A on either side of my Big Casita 17'er. Most managers of RV sites know this and try to place the smaller TTers by themselves.
So, for practical purposes, are travel trailers RVs?

When is a RV a "Vehicle" or a "Trailer"?
When it is a "Cart".
Vehicle definition:

synonyms:

DMV says they are.
Wikithingy says they are
But I agree, there must be someone out there that can prove otherwise!

RV (recreational vehicle) is the genus.
Motorhome and Travel Trailer are the species.

We need someone with taxonomy skills. I’m thinking that the genus and species would be like genus Casita and species spirit deluxe. Or Escape 17 and a subspecies Generation two. The Whole group of egg campers would be the family?? We need a camping science teacher. With all the development and various manufacturers someone should rewrite the old family tree joke, something like “fiberglass trailers where the family tree looks like a telephone pole.”

I think I know who could have argued that Travel trailers are not RV's and probably would have won. Pat Whitaker, won a case by convincing a judge that mullet are birds and not fish.

Whether RV or TT I get your point!!! I have a '72 Boler (13 ft) and have been having a wonderful time only to wake up to a 22 footer with the bloody generator cranking!!! I realize sites are generally given as "what is available" but I too wish there was some consideration at campgrounds for the little guys!
