I can't really see a pickup and trailer being easier to drive than a Class C; however, once you are set up at your campsite, you could drive the truck locally, and leave the trailer at the site... the pickup alone is a lot easier to drive than a motorhome, and with the trailer you don't have to "break camp" and take your RV with you.
We don't have a "fifth-wheel", but being able to leave our trailer at the campground and take our van somewhere is nice.
