Be Careful this is a Scammer

Be careful. I received a Direct Message this morning about my trailer for sale and it turns out that the individual was a scammer.

Moderator’s note: The individual has been removed from our membership list. Other advice in this thread should be useful to both buyers and sellers: be careful out there.

Glad you caught it, but, fwiw, there are a great many scammers out there, many of whom are trying to sell trailers they don't have. Way too many scammers for sure. Due diligence is your friend!

If the deal sounds too good to be true......it really is. Also......none of our grandkids are in a Canadian jail and need $1000 sent to them immediately. If you don't believe me......please send me your bank account numbers and your soc. sec. number......I will prove it. Trust me.....I am a doctor. LOL!

thank you!

was just suspecting the same thing, it's a good thing I check their account out and found the visitors. They wanted to purchase the trailer through a third party, no in person transaction

Tell Natasha...funny how the russians are so good at scamming (I had them contact me about a car we were selling, as in your case, she was proposing a third party transaction and she could barely write English) that you won't sell the trailer until you meet her at the sheriff's department, legal ID in hand, cash, thank you, and no hundreds, and willing to be photographed. That usually runs the thieves off. Because they're thieves, really.

Scamp scams galore! So maybe it’s time to post this again. HOW TO SPOT A SCAM AD! The phone number is hookerized, or posted as part of the picture, when decoded it is a Google forwarding service with an out of state area code. It has poor English or grammar, or the dollar sign is after the price. The house in the background has the wrong architecture, (Northern Wisconsin houses do not have tile roofs). Vegetation is all wrong (there are no palm trees in northern Minnesota). Ad has no interior pictures, or the described floor plan is not same as pictures. Local posters would know that the map shows the Scamp in the middle of the lake. The price is too good to be true. Open the cover picture and do a Google search of the image, it may show you where the picture came from and the real asking price. Craig’s list has a space to give title status, if the seller cannot prove ownership TURN AND RUN! When in doubt, ask here, we can pick any ad apart. (My sister's Scamp title brand was listed as SCAM!)

Yeah, but this thread is about scams HERE at FiberglassRV. Not what you receive via phone or email or snail mail or Facebook and on and on. Help keep threads on topic.
