I-70 Indiana

Wife and I just returned from visiting family in Western Colorado. We found that I-70 in Indiana had the worst roads of our trip. We’ll try a different route for sure next year.

Tennessee has a problem with interstate overpasses. Just before and after the bridge the road will dip or buckle. VERY interesting when not noticed before hand. Truck and trailer airborn for a time. Quite unsettling.

I put air suspension on the trailer. Really helps.

Dips at bridge abutments is a common problem, not just in TN
they are caused from incomplete compaction of the earth/gravel backfill under the surface pavement. Over time, the ground settles and the surface dips.

In terms of making a map of road conditions I think Google could do it. They get the real time data from people's cell phones for the traffic data they display on Google Maps. Cell phones have accelerometers also so Google could collect all that bouncy data which indicates road conditions. If you know anyone who works for Google you can suggest that. Cheers!

I forgot to add interstate 840 by-pass in Tennessee. Roads for and aft the bridges are very bad. Must slow down before approaching. I don't know why they can't fix these! Thanks for reminding us.
