Build Time to Delivery of our Bigfoot

Not sure if I'm posting this is the correct area. Sorry in advance if not. We ordered our 25RQ Twin (with theatre seating) through a dealer in Marble Falls, TX. He had an already sold 25RQ on his lot for us to see. We drove there in early January and he told us he has one (25RQ w/ Dinette) coming to him for a build in March 2024 and delivery in April. He literally was texting Grant while we were standing there making a request to switch to our requests for this build to Twin Beds vs Queen. Grant agreed. We proceeded with the order form (with our requests we knew at the time) and placed our deposit. We have called the dealer 1x to request a SkyLight to MaxAir Fan change and he changed the order form/price and texted us a copy of the the updated form. He told us that Grant will "call you 1 month before delivery to make sure the order is accurate and may or may not to be able to do any adaptations to what you'e already put on the order form." Well, of course we've thought of 1 or 2 more things and we've emailed Grant but have received no reply and the dealer just says the same thing he told us before. So is this accurate and will Grant make additional changes at the 1 month mark? Lastly, is our TT one of "allotments" we've heard mentioned previously? Does anyone know if BF puts the allotments as a priority build or do they often run late also? It seems I hear they run behind often. We don't see our model on this dealers sight but he didn't have the sold model on his sight either. It's not fun waiting and we're eager to start booking our late spring/summer travel. I know, I know...definitely 1st world problems but we are super excited and just not used to little or no communication for such an expensive item. Even if it's late, just want to know if any of the experts here can coach us. Can't wait! Thanks in advance and happy travels to all!

Ohh the unknowing wait !

We ordered a 25 footer June 1 2023. Not much communication for months but given a delivery date of approximately December 2023. Checked in in December and was given a February delivery. In January Grant called to confirm options and in that conversation we ironed out a few details that were in question and changed one item regarding the frame lift. We were a bit starved for information at that time. In that conversation which I found very pleasant and to the point we were told that the frame was in production a little ahead of the body but we could expect a delivery to dealer in February. This past Thursday the dealer contacted me and the trailer is there. A few more items discussed and we are picking up in a week.

I can relate to your feeling of lack of information and uncertainity . It appears to be working out for us and I'm now thinking that we may be experiencing a bit of a cultural difference in American expectations and Canadian business culture. Every post I've read speaks to the quality and integrity of the Bigfoot organization but i admit as time went on with little communication i felt a bit ignored. I don't now and am starting to appreciate the differences with our neighbors to the North.

Congratulations! I'm sure you're excited. Yes, I'd rather have a well built trailer (done with integrity) vs. rushing and not getting a quality build. I do wish we could slow down more and appreciate the value of this. I am wondering, however, if ours is an "allotted" build that we've often heard of that dealers have with BF. He (the dealer) told us he had one on order for a build in March. Nonetheless, it's just as you said; it's more of the lack of communication that's painful. Argh! We'll keep waiting. Please post pics of your new rig and again, congratulations.

Sorry to hear you are having issues from lack of communication. I heard some of the same things from that dealer. I believe when we put in our order we will probably use Trailer World in Colorado. They seem to be more upfront or at least that’s what it seems. I questioned Ron about pricing and he was all over the place so that makes me a little nervous about found a build with him . Hopefully you get an update that makes you happy. I did see on his website a few “coming soon models “ . I believe your build is similar to what we would be getting. Good luck , we are stuck until we sell our 5thwheel so keep us informed on how things go .

I wish we would have used the
Colorado dealer. Best of luck!

When talking to Paige at Trailer World she seems very knowledgeable and when I’ve asked questions she gets answers pretty quickly. She has advised us when we are ready about getting or not getting certain options from Bigfoot. Daisy RV seemed to have higher costs . When I asked about them he said the cost are in the price but we back some of them out . I want to know what my best price is not dance around the issues of what they may or may not discount. Seemed like talking to him any change such as a/c change was the regular cost plus upgrade cost . Trailer World I don’t believe they do that as they take the standard a/c as an exchange.

Patience

We were originally promised an April delivery date in 2021. We ordered from a dealer in Georgia in early December 2020. It was late October before we got our 25rq. All I can say is that the dealership lied to us over and over. Grant was always truthful and straightforward. I learned to skip the dealer and talk directly with Grant. He was dealing with all that Covid threw at him, but at least he was honest. Be patient, and know that the Colorado dealership is the only one I have heard good things about. I had to cancel an entire four months of reservations one by one as I was strung along by Southland RV.

It’s sad most dealerships are only worried about getting the sale and less about being honest . They would be better off being upfront on potential delays or estimates for delivery. It’s only hurts reputation of dealerships by hiding issues with the delivery. The dealership in Marble Falls told me there is a 4500 add on charge for shipping and delivery prep . He said all dealerships charge it but they hide it . Then turned around and said he gives a 5000 dollar discount. I asked him why he just didn’t say he’s giving a 500 dollar discount. He said he wanted to be upfront. I asked Colorado dealership about any fees and she said they have no tack on fee’s . Their base prices are also cheaper. They both said dealerships set their own prices not Bigfoot. Bigfoot option sheets from both dealerships had same prices so they are allowed to come of the MSRP . The dealership in Marble Falls talked a big game about having more allotment spots than most dealership’s in the country. I think he was just trying to impress for a sale . When we do buy I will get prices to compare and see who I’m more comfortable going with . More importantly I’m not going to assume anything on delivery time .

Update: we got “the call” from the dealer. Very excited! We’re about 1 month away from delivery in Marble Falls.. Nonetheless, to your point, I asked him about when Grant was (or if he has already called him - the dealer) going to call us to review everything on the order form (the dealer literally said this when we bought)….but he acted confused like he never said this and I told him to please go over the order form and exactly what we will be getting delivered. He begrudgingly did. He seriously had an attitude. Like we both already know, he sure is “Johnny on the spot“ when he’s trying to get that sale and making promises and says things but he doesn’t really mean them. I don’t really know how Grant and the Bigfoot team select these dealers but I’m a bit surprised that such an awesome product would have a dealer like this. I mean, this is a lot of money to be treated like a piece of crap, anyway, we’re just ready to get it and move on. We plan to stay overnight in the hotel the day before pick up since we are about four hours away and then we will do a “shakedown“ camp nearby. Glad you elected to go with a different dealer. Three weeks ago my husband and I were saying that we wanted to add a Truma hot water heater but we didn’t even bother calling because we just don’t wanna deal with this guy and we will just deal with the regular hot water heater. That’s pathetic. Be glad you will be going with a dealer in Colorado. I wish we would have. Best regards.

Thanks for the update. The Marble Falls dealership is closer to us since we are in Texas but I’m not sure I trust them . Hopefully all goes smoothly when it arrives, I would love to see the twin bed setup with the theater seats . Hopefully before we can order we will get to see one . While your in Marble Falls the Double Horn Brewery has pretty good food and a cafe across the street from it is also supposed to be good.

Well, when we get it home and set up, we don’t mind being an ambassador, and you can drive over to our place and check it out. Yes, when we went to go look at the one he had on the lot (dinette though) we ate a really good pie place. Greasy food but the pie was really good. Take care’

Hope all is going well, have you gotten any updates on your build ? I’m sure you are getting anxious.

Sort of. Grant has emailed us 1 week ago and said that it’s in the middle of the building process. Yet, the awful dealer in marble Falls Texas has said that it’s done on the exact same day and that it takes about 2 weeks for them to get transport in Canada and he doesn’t know how long it’ll take to get to Texas. The dealer did advise us that once he gets it, he will need two days to get our RecPro Huffington AC on it (that we have advised him of two times and he keeps trying to talk us out of it), cleaned up, etc… anyway, we are assuming by the last weekend in April. I guess the only good part about it is that we did get a big Ford F250 last week and it is giving us some time to get used to driving it and get the hitch on it, etc.… another funny thing about this dealer is that he told us that the double sink is standard and when I told him I wanted the round sink and I thought that’s what comes standard, he kept saying over and over that the double stink is standard and it seems like every little thing that we want to change he kept trying to talk us out of it and kept texting Grant while we were standing there. we had him write everything down, but this guy is so odd in his communication style that we are just praying we get what we actually put down on that piece of paper. Thankfully, he doesn’t have all of our money yet.

He is an odd duck to say the least . We asked about the RecPro Houghton a/c units and he said he does them all the time . When we looked at the camper he had on his lot back in January I asked what a/c was on it and he said the crappy Coleman. Hopefully you do get what you want .

Yes, that’s the same camper one we looked at on his lot. He keeps telling us that Coleman is awesome, and we shouldn’t replace it and that if he puts in the RecPro for us, he “won’t charge us for it” because he is going to “turn around and sell the Coleman for the same price it’s so awesome and the exact same thing as the recpro”…the guy is, pardon the expression, a blow hard tool. After the transaction is done (assuming it will be unpleasant until the bitter end) we may be emailing Grant/Bigfoot about our experience with this dealership. I just don’t hear about this oddness and abrupt behavior from other dealers on this and other platforms. Apparently this dealership has a great reputation for service, but the rest of it is really lacking and they are not representing the Bigfoot brand very well. I couldn’t help but notice that on RVTrader, the Marble Falls dealer no longer has models that they are showing “on order” or “coming soon” like some of the other lower 48 dealerships have. For as long as we’ve been looking a Bigfoot this has never been the case with them. We get the impression that he’s kind of fed up with it and doesn’t like the sales/customer service side of things and may be bowing out on his own but not sure. Anyway, we will be sure to post pics as soon as we, get her and no matter what this blowhard says or does, he won’t reduce our excitement Nonetheless, if anyone is out there reading this they can make their own decision and just simply sharing our experience with them and yours may be different.

I did read someone had bought a Bigfoot from some other dealership . They took it to Marble Falls dealership for warranty work because it was closer than where they purchased it . I believe they had issues getting the work done because they didn’t purchase it from them .
When I asked about the Rec Pro a/c I believe he said it would cost around 900 to change it out . So you may want to watch that . He also mentioned maybe moving the dealership to another location. He talked like he was one of the biggest dealerships by volume in the US for Bigfoot. I can’t see how that’s true from what I saw in Marble Falls . I did also notice he has taken the coming soon pictures off his website.

We ordered our 21RB through Apache Trailer in Portland, OR. No sales tax, although when we got home to Arizona and licensed it we did pay sales tax. Our dealer openly talked about allocations and slots in delivery. We started the conversation with the dealership in Jan and the next slot open was May. After 2 weeks of getting quotes from the dealership on options and prices the slot assigned to us was Oct. So immediately grab a slot, then find out prices. Many of our options were on-off types ie we wanted a second max fan near the dinette where we had eliminated the skylight. The dealer immediately deferred to Grant and we got a price several days later. Generally, the dealer stepped aside with most of our options and let Grant directly answer us if an option was feasible and the cost. Our dealer was copied on every communication.

Grant was fabulous at responding to us. We asked him in early Sept if our trailer was in progress. He told us it would be another month. The dealer does not get that level of communication. We basically knew when our trailer would be completed from Grant. The dealer just knows that the trailer is done and it is time to schedule shipping.

Apache Trailer had the lowest prices of the 3 dealerships we contacted. They are a high volume, low overhead dealership. We ordered our 21RB blind. We had never seen a Bigfoot in any form either trailer or camper. When enquiring on various forums there were none near the AZ for viewing. We are exceedingly happy with our Bigfoot. It is lightyears better quality than our 2018 Escape 19 or our 1986 Casita Spirit Deluxe.
