Built in Microwave - removal?

Our used Casita trailer came with a brand new. unused, microwave. We are thinking of removing it and just putting in a smaller one that we would be able to take outside and use it outside rather than in the trailer. Has anyone done this?

Is it difficult to remove and once removed, could it be set on a kitchen counter and used in the home or would the "frame" around it hinder use as a free-standing microwave?

Reason for doing this would be cooking smells in the trailer attracting bears, or is this untrue? Now that I mention it...seems like the smells would still be in the microwave and if we put it in the trailer or in the car, it might still attract bears? Why wouldn't food in the refrigerator attract bears?

Thanks!

The Dometic brand microwave in my motorhome is basically a common countertop unit (made by LG) with a bezel (surrounding frame) attached to it by a few screws into the case. This only works for microwaves with the appropriate threaded holes, but going the other way and leaving the bezel off is trivial to do and leaves a normal microwave. In my case, the bezel is just held in the cabinet opening by four screws.

My Boler doesn't have a built-in microwave.

Your RV installation may be different!

Information is good. Lack of information is not so good, but misinformation is much worse. Check facts, and apply common sense liberally.
