Calmark cover help

Can anyone help please! I bought a cover and Friday went to put it on and no instructions were in the box so I snugged the two straps and cinched the bottom. I read all threads and someone said he only uses the straps as the bottom caused water build up. I finally read the emailed instructions and it says to use your own rope and/or bungees through lower grommets. Also said not to tighten the two straps too much. I’m now in Seattle and the scamp is in Tucson and I did tighten the straps I can attach a photo. The company hasn’t answered about how many fingers should fit in as to not be too tight. I can maybe get someone to go loosen them. How important is the additional rope underneath? Thanks much

Looks fine to me. I think you have put more thought into this than most of us! I've never seen a need for extra straps but you would need to consider local conditions.

How long's it going to be stored there for? I'm guessing if only a few months, there's really nothing you could have screwed up too badly.

We live in the Southern California Desert where the wind blows a bit hard, and we found that we needed to attach several extra straps to keep it from rubbing against the paint. We ordered it with as many extra straps as they would make and we still added extra ones. I think you should at least add ones from front to back and maybe one more all the way around the whole sides.

I tie a rope underneath from side to side, one from those around the back over the spare and pull them tight. I also tie one around the propane tanks tight. This keeps the wind from getting under the back or front of the cover and balloon out. I live on a windy hill top and the cover has stayed on with no problems. Your straps lot a lot prettier than my ropes!

No, not much likely until July. Then if all goes to plan, the monsoons arrive with waves of heat, humidity, gusty winds, dust storms, and occasional torrential rains, even hail. Tough on any vehicle cover!

The way you have set up is the way mine sits al winter . mabe a foot of snow on roof helps hold it down. I think you be fine as long as its only a few moths, maybe someone down there could check on it for you.

We have a Calmark cover for our Escape. We snug the two straps. They keep the winds from flapping the cover. The draw string underneath: again-snug.
By snug, I mean, cinch them up to where they're tight, but you can fasten and undo the snaps without having to re-adjust each time you put it on.
We also have a 3/16 nylon rope underneath that cris-crosses between many of the grommets. We connect with a bunch of snap rings (see your dollar type store for the deals!). We tehn just draw it tight from one end or the other.
This also keeps the wind from moving the cover.
We've had the 5 years, in the So.Calif. Santa Ana winds, and there are no scuffs on the trailer finish. The cover is in great shape, even with SoCal sun.
Edit: we don't have the cover over the front storage and propane. I used some Krylon Fusion plastic compatible paint on the cover when new, to provide UV protection. (I also used the Fusion paint on several of the plastic vent covers, and on the top half of the A/C cover on the roof, again, for UV protection.)
