Glad you had fun camping in Iowa. We grew up about 20 miles from the Palisades State park in Iowa and so have been using that park for a lifetime. My brother lives closer than I do now so he goes there about 5 out of seven days a week to walk a trail or two and keep tabs on the changing bird species as the seasons progress. The state spent considerable money restoring many of the CCC built structures in this and other Iowa State parks about 15 years ago. Photogenic, inspiring and a tribute to the greatest generation. One of my uncles was a CCC boy at Pikes Peak State Park in NE Iowa. I rarely miss a chance to look over their handiwork if I am anywhere that I know it survives.
