Casette vs Tank Toilet

Never mind... found an old thread! I suppose the technology has not changed all that much

Considering the difference for a full time in the camper situation.

Figured the Cassette is a bit more convenient to dump but seems like it might be pretty disgusting to deal with and I get worried about the little dump pipe getting clogged.

Anyone with experience with both that can report the good, bad and smelly?

Thanks for doing the search! Toilet debates are often stinkier than the task itself, and plenty to be had! Best wishes!

Why not consider a waterless toilet? There are several different brands and a couple of different varieties. These significantly reduce the trailer's water use and eliminate the black tank. Mine plumbs the pee to the gray tank, but some have pee bottles if that is what someone prefers. BTW, the odor is far less than with a conventional RV water toilet.

I have experience with both, black water tank in Scamp and cassette in Revel. I prefer cassette, it's much easier to dump, no stinky-slinky involved. And I can dump the cassette at any rest area, pit toilet or at my house.

Maybe provide the link to the existing thread so folks don't feel they have to rehash it here.

Would you mind sending a link to the waterless toilet that you use and like?

here's a link to the Separett brand, "Tiny" toilet with urine diversion. This is the one I installed. A good place to get them is at Tiny Home Essentials. Talk to Brian.

Do you toss the waste bag over your left or right shoulder?

Didn't you notice I've been tossing them into your yard?

Personally, I would NOT want to HAVE to dump every day or two.

Cassette Here

We use a cassette originally because our 1982 Scamp 16 was somewhat gutted by the PO. Turned out the pump on the cassette quit working, so we used a squirt bottle to rinse the bowl. This actually works better as much less water is used and the toilet takes longer to fill. We normally use the cassette at night or when other facilities are not available, so the toilet will last the two of us a week or so. Just being careful when dumping into a regular toilet and no problem.
