Casita Owners of America

Hey all, just wanted to share a new Facebook group, Casita Owners of America

You don't have to own a Casita to join and its a great way to network. Go check it out if you get a chance.

Thanks!

So why does it have a picture of a Scamp in its banner photo?

OK - I see now - its not really about just Casitas - its about molded fiberglass trailers. including Canadian ones. Strange title.

Looks like you have to join the group to find out if you want to join the group. And, I'm a Facebook user ( of sorts ).
I'll pass.

Hi Glenn, how do you find your Rav 4 for towing the Escape ?
We are in BC and looking now for a used Escape 17B.

My RAV4 is 2008 Sport V6 with tow prep package. I use a Pro-Series weight distribution hitch. Tow max is 3,500 lb with 350 max tongue weight. All of that was discontinued in 2013, so if I was in the market, I'd be looking at the Highlander or 4Runner, or if my wife would let me, Tacoma.
My gas mileage plummets when towing, especially up the Coquihalla. Usual, not towing is about 10/11 litres/100 kilometers. Towing I'm up at 15 to 16 litres/100 k.
Vehicle has 269 hp so I can easily get up to traffic speed on short on-ramps and I'm doing 85-90 kph approaching Coqu summit towing a fully loaded trailer.
All in all, I'm very happy with the combination. If I were to move to a 19' trailer, I would have to buy more tow ( probably the Highlander ).
Couple 17s recently listed on the Escape Forum. One is in North Van, I believe.

Hi Glenn, thanks for the info, interesting for sure.
Couldn't find the Escape in North Van ? One has sold in Duncan on a lot for $17,500 apparently.

OK, thanks so much. Towed lots of trailers (utility and car trailers) but a travel trailer will be a new experience !!
