Change of Scenery needed

It would be nice to have more of the beautiful FG trailers in thie forum get featured on the home page. Maybe if one person got assigned the job of changing the photo monthly?

Donna, it's not that hard to change the photo on the front page.

tr valign="top" td div align="center"><a href="/board/"><img src="/cover-photos/3_4_10.jpg" width="500" height="375" border="0" /td
All that's needed is to resize a photo to 500 x 375 . put it in the "cover-photo directory with new name. Change the line above to indicate the new name. A few lines down is the description that would also need to be changed.

Maybe somebody that has access to server and directories can do that.

It's more complicated than what you suggest Byron. But, if you feel so inclined... send your suggestion to: Fiberglass RV - Contact Us

Donna,
It's no harder than I said. If I had access to the server files I could change it in about 5 minutes. The problem is there's too many that don't know how to access the basic code or read it. Any web programmer should be able to make the changes I outlined.
I'll let it go at that.

I reported your post Byron, I think it's important an admin check it out. You may have given them an idea they hadn't thought about.

The catch is access to the server files. It's just the same as your computer directory, and editing is just text editor, same as word, notebook, etc.
If somebody has access. including Andy, it should be very easy to change.

Exclamation The task is easier said than done.

Once upon a time, FiberglassRV.com was an entity standing alone, a "Sole Proprietorship" owned and operated by one individual. Under the old Invision PowerBoard software, the task of managing the look and operation of the Home Page was done as Pam and Byron suggest. Manually. Those days are gone.

Today, FiberglassRV.com is but one Division of the Multiple Sites owned and operated by SocialKnowledge, LLC. (a Limited Liability Corporation)
Our operating system was changed to the standardized vBulliten software running all of the other sites in this family of sites.

Apparently, the "Look and Feel" of the site, a.k.a. the "Skin", was overlayed onto the standard appearance. (CasitaForum uses the standard appearance of Invision PowerBoard software.) Certain custom created features of the home page (Photograph, List of Manufacturers with embedded links) had to be imported to vBulliten, with more than a bit of alignment challenges.

We were told that the goal was to Automate a rotating que of photographs on the home page. As the corporation employs the same or fewer Volunteer (by invitation only) Moderators and Administrators, who cram this labor into our own very full schedules, automation will help us meet our customers' needs.

The source of the que is the recently created photo gallery. The old Invision PowerBoard gallery was incompatible with the vBulliten operating system. All of the Old images had to be reassigned, and added to new images in our Trailer Registries to make up the new Gallery.

Linking that standardized automated que to the existing custom Home Page Photo display is the software upgrade that Donna D. is speaking of.

Apparently there are enough bugs in it to have to call in the exterminators.

As far as I know, only one person has regular maintenance access, our corporate Tech Admin.
Andy is the president of SocialKnowledge, LLC. and has a very full schedule.

Thanks Frederick. I was pretty sure that was the case as outlined in both of your posts. Automation can be good or not so good. But almost impossible for one person to maintain a large number of web sites. I had enough difficulty maintaining 3 or 4 and finally divested one to ease the load. Thanks for all you do.
