COE Campgrounds Near Casita Factory

Hey All,
Looking for recommendations for C.O.E. near rice for shakedown cruise in February'25. Or RV campground that won't break an already broken bank.

Timothy,
We stayed at Liberty Hill COE CG on Navarro Mills Lake. It’s about 30 miles from the factory. We stayed in a small loop on a hill that had full hook ups. IIRC many of the waterfront sites are only water and electric. The sites were reasonably well maintained. I did not go into the facilities, but they appeared to need some maintenance and updates (as of September 2023).

The only caution is the infestation of Argentine ants (sugar ants). The REC.gov website states that certain times of the year all the parks on the lake can be affected and recommends that you place ant poison around your tires, jack points and power/water/sewer connections. I spread diatomaceous earth powder around the recommended areas and had no issues, even thought the ants were active at the time we stayed.

Along this line, not sure if Casita now offers a detachable power cord, but if it’s still the hardwired cord with the mouse door, you will need a means to seal the space between the door and the cord when the cord is in use. I purchased an aftermarket product, no longer appears to be in production. I’ve seen posts where folks have cut a section of pool noodle or foam pipe insulation to do the same thing.

BTW, probably the closest RV park to the factory is American RV Park in Corsicana. They are more expensive, but is close to all the typical amenities.

Texas state parks tend to be reasonably priced and typically provide full hookups. Most are kept in good condition. I’d recommend looking for either a COE or state park when visiting Texas.

I remember being in a state park not too far from the factory when someone pulled in with their brand new Casita. I just can’t recall which one.

Have fun!!

Edit: I looked and it appears we were at Ft Parker state park which is on a nice lake, but may not have full hookup sites. It rained when we were there, so I can’t give a full review, but it is right at an hour away from Rice.

Casita offers a detachable cord option. As far as camping, go to lake bardwell in Ennis (10 miles north of Rice).

Bardwell Lake

We just picked up our Spirit Delux and spent the first night at High Point Park, a COE park at Bardwell Lake. It's only fourteen miles from the Casita Factory - so if you have to go back the next morning for repairs (we didn't) it's very easy. Decent park - pretty basic - the on-site folks were very welcoming - easy back-in. Low price.

RV Park Close to Casita Factory

We stayed at the American RV Park in Corsicana, just south of the factory.
americanrvparkcorsicana.com. They even has a checklist for new owners of Casita's. We were on are way to the Gulf coast so it was on the way.

Thanks Bill, looked Bardwell Lake up and booked a night in Mott Park Loop. $18. w Elec and water hard to beat...until I discovered, too late, that I could have gotten it for $9 if I'd included my America the Beautiful Senior Lifetime pass. Can you tell I'm proud of having that or that I've lived long enough to qualify. It looks like I would have had to reserve online and then pay at the campground where I would then presented my pass, proving experience not age brings wisdom.
