COEUR D’ALENE KOA
the
COEUR D’ALENE KOA
To put it mildly, we did not enjoy this campground. I believe some one else also had a bad experience here.......
Has anyone here camped at this KOA and liked it?
I felt overcharged at 47.00 per night, a dirty pool, narrow sites and discourteous staff/owners. Most enquiries were met with "it's right there on the sign" rather than an explanation.
HHmmmm...time to rethink KOA's.

Haven't camped there, but I did camp last year for the first time at a KOA - Revelstoke, BC. That one was VERY (can't stress that enough) clean. It was very luxurious for a 'camping' experience (although I felt like I was cheating - not a very rustic experience but hey, after 2 weeks on the road it was great to have a pool, breakfast cooked for us, hot showers, etc.) I think a tent spot was $25 CDN.
Too bad they aren't all the same. They really should all be up to the same calibre.

Revelstoke
We stayed one night last year in the Revelstoke KOA and it was very nice. Petaluma and Astoria were also very nice. I guess that's why we decided to try COEUR D’ALENE.
We'll certainly go back to Idaho though, soon I hope.

I made my first trip through COEUR D’ALENE last year. It's a very clean and scenic town if my memory is right.
Mike - was that 47.00 US per night? WOW ! :E :E

Rick,
The KOA in Miles City, Montana was no prize either.
Grouchy owner and it was pretty run down.
( He was angry that we came in the back way, four entrances and none of them had a sign saying front way!!!!)
KOA needs to overhaul that place for sure.
The rest of the KOA's we stayed at were fine.

We've only stayed in one, Barrie Ontario KOA last year.We stayed in two cabins. It was great, clean, people were helpful. It had won their gold standard the year previous, and we had been expecting all future ones to be the same. Mind you in the night some one took a bottle out of the kids cooler. But that's not management's fault, because they were patrolling.

KOA'S
Memphis, TN East KOA had about the same characteristics - grouchy office, dumpy sites etc. Said they had been bought out by Good Sam's and were in transition - pretty bad place!:r <img src=http://www.fiberglassrv.com/board/uploads/3f2fc183b736crwbm60.gif/>

Mike, we've stayed at the Coeur D'Alene KOA ... and were a little shocked at the grade of the campground!
That sucker goes straight up hill ... ah, err, straight up a mountain side.
Walking the dog down to that little man-man island (where they put tenters) and then back up to the campsite was a real work-out!
Little bitty sites, too. Ours was close to the top!
And, yes, it all came with a high price.

Yep, but in KOA marketing parlance it's called terraced.
Even though our trailer is an itty bitty 17 footer @ 8 feet wide it was like walking a balance beam to leave your site by foot. With our awning extended just under half way out there was no room for anyone on our awning side to deploy theirs and ours was within the boundary of our site.
Here's a pict near that man made tent area you mention. My wife and I thought the tent area would make a better RV area and vice versa. I wonder if septic was an issue near the water?

It does make a great cvox workout going up and down the terrace.:cblob

We stayed in the Spokane KOA and found it only to be an average place to stop for one night--no trees just a grass area nothing to brag about. Maybe everyone should combine there input and make a campsite referral page????

KOAs
Our first night in our Scamp when travelling back from picking it up in Florida was at a KOA at Gator Point, FL. It was also terrible. Close to $40 a night, tiny sardine can sites and very rude employees. The store was dirty and the facilities were a long way from clean. We almost turned around and gave up on the camping idea. On our next trip, we overnighted in a Walmart instead!!! Very hospitable place!.
We will never stay at a KOA again. Not worth the gamble, the price or the lack of a real camping experience.
There's my 2 cents worth!
