Comcast XFINITY Mobile Plan

Wondering if anyone had looked into this for phone, internet, data. It uses Verizon 4G LTE service for phone and automatically connects to XFINITY hotspot when available.

Unlimited talk and text and 100 mb data for $45/month (ends July 31). More data is either $12/gb or $45 for unlimited. Data over hotspot is free.

One problem is you have to buy a supported phone through Comcast, even if you already have a phone on their list of supported phones.

Also, there is no mention of using your own hotspot to connect to 4G network.

ETA: You must have Comcast installed at your home to get this service.

We've been satisfied with our T-Mobile ONE plan. T-Mobile coverage seems to get better every year, but since no carrier has coverage everywhere, we also have a pay as you go hotspot available using Verizon network through Straight-Talk wireless.
Our T-Mobile unlimited plan cost $100 total for both phones (less military discount) and also provides 200 MB of roaming on the ATT Network. Unlimited data in Canada and Mexico and overseas also comes in handy.
Our Straight-Talk hotspot is only activated by us if we know we will be traveling in the West where population and coverage is spotty.

I have been pleased with Cricket, an ATT subsidiary. For $65, I Get unlimited talk & text in North America, plus 12gb data via a 4g LTE Wi-Fi hotspot in the phone. It's plenty of data unless downloading video & movies, which I do sparingly.

We have Verizon with the mobile hot spot app on our phones. Works great for us for internet and email as we travel. Have been able to get coverage almost everywhere we go.

One thing I have learned about dealing with Comcast over the years. Talk directly to a sales representative. They actually will negotiate with customers and make some exceptions to what you get in some of the standard offering for the plans posted on the internet. Ask about the plan then tell them what you want them to do for you as a variation to it. Don't forget to bargain for a discounted price too.

I have a google fi phone which has built in tethering (you click a button to make your phone a wifi hotspot)

It's not great but it's cheap. You can finance the phone at 0% interest and no contract.
