Day trip to Backus
Yesterday, we made a trip to Scamp to have three options that we wanted added to our Scamp. It turns out that adding a range hood to a Deluxe required more than one day, so they installed an awning, and tank level monitors, I also purchased a light to add below the cabinet above the stove to have more light while cooking. The main reason for thr range hood. The Scamp folks really are great to deal with.

We are about to remove the annoying range hood in our Casita. You may have dodged a bullet.

We had a range hood in our Airstream, and it was effective in reducing the smoke alarm signals while cooking. With our first Scamp, I accomplished the same thing by opening the window over the stove and the roof vent. This Scamp has a Max Air roof fan. I will have to experiment to find a setting that pulls any cooking smoke from the Alarm. The biggest issue; however, is the lack of a light above the stove.

Day trip to Backus
Have to agree. I added the range hood, haven’t used the stove yet, but looks like the range hood is going to interfere with the use of the burners. Only use it has now is to add counter space next to the sink. I’m going to Backus in June to add A/C and a furnace to my 2020 13ft. Scamp. Yes, the service people are very nice to deal with.

Range hood gets in the way so removed it and added fans to exhaust opening with switch.

I have a Scamp13D with every option available at the time, plus a couple.
Two things I did not buy...
1] a second propane tank
2] the Range hood.
The kitchen window works much better and does not cause bruises and cuts on your forehead.
For excellent ventilation while cooking, we simply turn the ceiling fan on with it switched to "IN". this pushes the air directly from the stove and out the kitchen window without smelling or smoking up the interior.
Works at least as well as the hood and you still have a useful window, cooking or not!

Hi Dennis,
I used two small low voltage computer fans in the vent opening, used wires from range hood and added switch to tun it on and off.

Thank you. That might provide the solution.
The deluxe, layout A 19' trailer that I have has the window over the sink, and not the stove.

Hi Dennis,
I used the vent opening from range hood. You could buy a vent flap (opens manually from out side of trailer) and install it for fans to push air out. Out side picture of trailer shows exterior vent.

Range vent alternative.
I used a few 12v muffin fans aka computer fans, with the window as the vent. Not the best decision on my part. But it has worked, being if I want to cook something I do or "fried" foods. I got mine to use and have been. I've got year or so of use out of the fans then they wear out. But during weather not requiring AC or heater the windows are opened and the fans are on. Now that I've been reminded of it, I need to get a few more to replace them. Dang more stuff I need to work on.
