De-Humidifier CAUTION
I bought a 4 PKG of these. Damp Rid Max. I have hung 3 in my Casita. The 1st sprang a leak in the bottom and leaked onto my cushion. The 2nd, same result. The 3rd, I recently hung in the closet, now in the trash. Your experience may be different and I may have just bought a bad batch, BUT, BYER BE WARE.

I have used them with no problem and prefer them to their other methods, however, I place a tray or something underneath in the trailer closet for such a problem.

I use Dri-Z-Air pot and crystals. The pot collects the liquid. Even then, I place the pot on a tray. I empty up to a cup of liquid every couple weeks.
Can't help but wonder where the moisture is supposed to go, using that DampRid method.

I use the version that goes in the little bucket. EDIT; like what Glenn posted, Damp Rid has a similar container

No second. Just wonder why people need/use "Damp Rid" stuff.

To control humidity, a standard dehumidifier does not work well in winter temperatures. We decided to skip using Damp Rid one winter and ended up with mold & mildew issues.

To remove moisture that causes mold and odor.

I live in Florida. It's very humid here in summer. No problem with moisture inside Scamp, I just keep windows slightly open.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it is humid in Florida
24 /7/ 365. The only time the humidity is not at 100% is when it's raining or it's hurricane season.

Wrong about "or". Rainy and hurricane seasons do match, about 5 months a year (july-October) The remaining months weather is very comfortable, 60-70% humidity, 24-30C daytime temperature.
Summer is hot and very humid, but my Scamp feels fine under a carport, no moisture-related problems, I just keep windows slightly open.

I bought one of those things way back when I was waiting on my trailer to be built(2004). I bet it is somewhere around here even now. If I find it, I might bring it for the free table at the ScampCamp.

I believe this stuff is calcium cloride. If so it's the same stuff they used to load tractor tires. Mixed with the water it lowers the freezing point. It's quite corrosive. Over time it would eat through the steel rims.

Sophapkin, it's great you don't have humidity problems in your Scamp. I have them big-time in everything, and if the air temperature is balmy enough to do without a/c the very clothes in my closet in my house start to mildew, to say nothing about the rugs. And if I don't blow dry my hair that starts to mildew also.
It's nice that such a simple solution works for you. It didn't work for me in the past. The towel I had left in the Snoozy cabinet soaked up the humidity and may have damaged the cabinet it was in.
I use 3 of the "pots" of damprid-one in the fridge and 1 on a cabinet counter and 1 on the floor
YMMV.

Somehow that stuff always leaks out of the tractor tire tubes and rusts out the rims. I had to replace a rim last year on one of my tractors. Now there is a non corrosive liquid available, I heard it is derived from beet juice. It's what I use now.

Back to the humidity issue, we recently bought a mini dehumidifier that is about the size of one of those little cube heaters. Going to try that this winter while in the south.
