I went back to the forward I received and it just says, "southwest."

But the point I see is not to set up camp in a wash.
I think most know not to do that........lol

My husband always knew better then to set a camp up in a dry run at the Scout Ranch. We get them from the dry runs above the house that run into the creek that runs through our property and from water in Minnesota from a sink hole. Moves a lot of rocks.

Don't worry. That video was taken at least 2 weeks ago. I know so because while in Las Vegas (July 22-23) I saw a short clip of that video on the local news. They showed the part where the guy's wife is running to get out of the wash, and the rolling mud scene right after that. It was something that had happened perhaps a day or two earlier.

But of course it can happen at any time. There can be cloudbursts over a mountain that fill the lower washes later on. Best to stay on high ground.

As for Arches, I don't know if they would have much of that. The nearest mountain is across the Colorado River to the south, so any such flows would be cut off at the river. I imagine the rangers would warn people if there were much danger in the park due to weather.

For those of you that have been to Antelope Canyon in Page, AZ, the same photographer caught a flash flood through the canyon on August 2nd:

Thanks Jon. The power of fire, wind, and water is just astounding and terrifying
at the same time.

When mowing the other day I counted six drops of possible rain.
The next morning I woke up to find between 2 and 3 inches in my gauge.
Areas east of us got 3 to 5 inches.

Needless to say all the lakes around here are way over their levels.
One lake you could just make out the boat ramp. The next rain put it
all under water. Glad I wasn't camping in those areas.

Last summer one of these lakes I was walking and driving on the lake bottom.
This summer they blocked off the ramps for flooding.
