Dometic portable AC Freezer/Refrigerator

Has anyone used one of these? How do they perform compare to the regular 3 way fridge you typically get?

I was thinking of ordering a scamp 16 at some point without the fridge and getting one of these instead hoping it would work better. I'm in Florida so when it's 90 outside that little 3 way fridge just won't cut it and I'm hoping the cold air won't just fall out everytime I open the door. I like my beer ice cold

Has anyone looked at truckfridge.com or northernfridge.ca?
These are fridges used in the commercial truck industry.

dcs02d what would u do in an area with not 110voltage ? I have a Dometic portable 3 way, works well, it was installed in the place of the original refrigerator,by p.o. It will not freeze, ( except cheese that is too close to the cold air inlet ) It does keep beer cold. My friend with a scamp has a ice cooler type refrigerator ( block ice ) put in by scamp. Thought about an upgrade to a 3 way the cost was $900.00 +-. He felt for the time used each year he would just by more ice.

maybe order Scamp with just the ice box, can use dry ice to get cold beer; get a portable 3 way refrigerator for out at the lake. long extension cord ? from the trailer or camp ground out let can also use grill propane t connector.

My reading of the Amazon description is that this is both an AC and DC fridge/freezer so can be used without plug ins."The unit draws an average of 3.75 amps"(amazon). This is one of the largest units, perhaps one of the smaller ones might do. They are widely used by RV and camper (vans, teardrops etc) users and are considered one of the best brands available. Work well because they are compressor cooled.

I loved my Truckfridge, I installed the larger one when I revamped our old Scamp. It does pull more power than I like however. I think it is mostly due to the "cold dump" every time my daughter or I open it for a cold drink form the door. I have threatened to get a thin piece of Styrofoam or such to make a quickly removable dam behind the door but have not gotten aroundtuit yet. All that said, I have also considered adding one of the little AC/DC chest units to the mix. It would be nice to have in the truck when away form camp for lunch and drinks, or to use as an additional freezer for extend camps.

We have an Engle and have used it for years in VW camper vans. We now place it in Back of our Explorer and use 12v traveling or running around. When at campground I unroll a drop cord that will allow me to close the hatch and plug into 110. I like our Engle but a friend has Edgestar, much better price, more features and work just as well. He uses his on a boat and never turns it off. Some manufacturers make a unit with a freezer and frig that run at the same time but most all of these can be a frig OR freezer but not both at the same time,

12v compressor fridge is the best buy I ever made. This is what I'm using:

Thetford ie Norcold sells a front load AC DC frig with freezer, do not know price. Something like this would be mor useful if it is the only frig you have, I think, It is flush mount.
