Dragged boler out of the blackberry bushes
Hi Everyone,
New to this site. Friend and I dragged this boler out of some blackberry bushes on the weekend, brought it home and washed it up. Guy charged me $500 bucks for it... Seemed like a good deal to me. The outside cleaned up rather well, the inside however needs some attention. Just wondering if anyone could help me out with info about this trailer, year, model, and what it may be worth...???
Thanks, Kevin.

Nice find.
The side and door windows suggest that it may be circa 1979-1980. Check inside the cupboards to see if there is a sticker showing the vin No, and year. It may also have been placed outside on the drivers side.

Says boler by neonex on the tag, no year though? The inside has wood cupboards with plastic doors, and strange foamy textured insulation on the interior walls. Sorry no picks of the inside yet... Kinda gross

You got a steal for $500, even if the inside is beat.

Aha, that is one of the ones with the "tombstone" taillights, wooden cabinets, and the softer foamy insulation. I was just trying to remember where these were made. I think in BC.... Vanguard?
I think the previous poster is right, and it was made around 1980. It seems those particular ones had much in common with the 17's in terms of interior, etc.

PS: You can check the "sold" archives to get an idea of asking prices and see photos; although there isn't anything to tell you what the actual selling price was.

It does say Vanguard on it... And has the same color shell and striping as some of the Vanguard motorhomes I have seen around here.

You are probably rigth on this one.
I own a 1980 made by Vanguand trailers in BC.
The spec sheet is inside the cabinet in mine, plus the serial number out the door if I remember well.
When comparing to "Most" bolers:
- there is no drop in the floor, the plywwod floor sits flush on top of the frame
- the plywood floor has no fiblerglass under (I will tell you this winter about the inside and the durability of it... when I will rebuils the interior to my needs/liking
- leaf spring suspension
- wooden interior furniture
- rounder slider windows; the driver side window should be wider than usual, coming in front of the sink, rigth to the stove; so the above cupboard is not as high
- mine had a 14" vent centered on top
- the fresh water tank is inside the passanger side dinette bench.
- the insulation is about 3/8" thick, looking like a low-density cushion foam with a painted skin on it; it is more textured than the ensolite I checked in other Bolers
- the coupler is a 5000lbs rated one with a 2" ball; I dont know if it is usually on a 1 7/8" or a 2" tough... maybe it is not different after all ;-)
For another one with the same frame, suspension, windows and furniture:

Ah, thank you! I *knew* I had seen two renovation websites of those (and your link was one of them), but I simply could not find them again!
I had forgotten about the frame and window, but now I remember them.
Thanks for all the details!
Threadjack creep warning: I have the upper kitchen cabinet out on my "traditional" Boler and I have been mulling over the possibility of replacing it with a "shorter" one. i.e. one that does not hang down as low. I like the storage and the ease of not having to make something; but OTOH I have never been much of an upper-kitchen-cabinets person as I hate the feeling of having to duck under them. The jury is still out on this one. Also... I'm curious how you plan to rebuilt to suit yourself?
I'm sure glad you posted more about the Vanguard Boler
Raya
PS: With no dropped main floor, is the Vanguard Boler just "short" inside? Or have they somehow raised everything?

Kevin nice find!
There are a few of these that attend the Fort Langley Glass Eggs meets. Scratching my brain to try and remember who owns them. If you go to this link and click on gallery you should see some. https://sites.google.com/site/bcglasseggs/home
Think the May 2008 has one or two but the others may as well.
You may also want to change the heading on this post or start a new one to reflect the actual trailer that you have so people in BC who are most likely to be able to help you see it.

The original price would have made a good Man Camper.

Gettin her ready...:)
Been happily plugging away at the little stuff needed to be done on the new trailer... A new handle on the closet, removed the double propane tanks, a good wash and wax, got the spare mounted, and having some decals made. Had it in the shop last week to have the 5" spacers removed from the axle to bring it down to a nicer height. Now just exploring flooring options and waiting for summer
