Eagle Cam

They installed a new eagle cam above the nest for a pair of eagles where we live in Iowa so you can watch the eagles as they raise their young. It's kind of boring right now because there is no eggs yet. Mostly chirping birds and passing cars. You can even go back to other days and see what happened. Once the babies come it's neat to see whats in the nest to eat. Fish, squirrels, rabbits. The nest in actually in someone yard. I know exactly where that nest it! Growing up in Decorah, I rode my bike out to the trout stream frequently and walked miles and miles of that area. I didn't even care if I caught anything since it was so beautiful. Great times!

Is this the nest in the huge tree that you can see when you canoe the Upper Iowa?

No. It is actually along a creek. You can see it from the awesome bike path Decorah is constructing. The pair have been preparing the nest as I write. It's fun to watch on the weekends because they pan the camera around the tree. They are busy moving sticks around and they are comical to watch especially when one doesn't like where the other put it. Sometimes it makes me sad to watch when I am in Wisconsin because I know it's live.

P.S. And the turkeys are in the yard again today. Greg snow blowed them a nice path and put some corn out. Dog don't pay attention to them so they saunder right up to the house. I raised chickens and turkeys around her and she probably thinks that hateful pet turkey I had has come back from the dead and brought friends.

The eagle laid the first egg. There could be more but I haven't seen the eagle get up yet to roll the eggs or switch sitters. Sitting on an egg must be like a bed rest pregnancy only shorter. Over 2700 viewers.

We have eagles hang out in our yard or the neighbor's yard so I have lots of eagle pictures now.

Two eggs! I just saw them. One eagle (he?) came in to spell the other female and while he was arranging himself, I saw both eggs.

The eggs are estimated to start hatching around the first of April. I see there is a rabbit in the nest. Sometimes you see fish and squirrels. It is neat to listen to them talk.

They currently are showing the first baby being fed. Must of been what that dead rabbit was laying in the nest for so for.

i watched the baby getting its chin cleaned up by Mom, just like a human baby when they eat. However, instead of drizzled baby peas, we have drizzled rabbit.

My sister-in-law has the most amazing hummingbird flock in Washington as they do at the Scout Ranch in New Mexico. You think a Wasp is after you and you are getting dive bombed on the way to the feeder. We get a few token one's here. It is so neat to see them finally land.

We camped outside Estes Park about 4 years ago. The campground sold hummingbird feeders; we bought one and had a hummingbird adopt it for the several days we stayed there. We got the biggest kick out of watching him defend that feeder from other hummingbirds. I did not realize how aggressive they could be.

You can probably get closer that way. We drove past it a week ago but could only see where it was. It looked like it was in someone's backyard.
Can you imagine having something like that in your yard? You would not be picking up just sticks and nuts but probably what is left of the meals. You would also not be able to have small dogs or cats outside. They might end up as the eaglet's supper.
