Elbert

Elbert is the name that has found my U Haul CT 13. It is short for "Little Bitty Rolling Turd"! That was what my wife and son were singing the other night while out in it checking things out. The song in the movie "RV" is Big Ole Rolln Turd! So there you have it. My CT now has a proper name ELBERT!

He is sleeping on the carport until he gets his new window seals in the morning. I found a glass company here in Rome Ga that does heavy equipment and apparently they use the same seal for those. They are going to do the side windows and the door. I will let you know how they turn out. I will be rebuilding the screens later before spring camping time.

Thanks. The name is kinda like I don't know if I should have told that! But he is who he is.

It is most all original. It was missing the table pole, bunk bed poles, keys, ice box, and the PO has cut out under the seat for an AC window unit. So I have a mini fridge 110v that will go into the hole for the ice box, a window unit on my back porch that has a remote, and have bought a new pole for the table.

The water system was in sad shape so all new hoses for that and a gas regulator were all I have had to buy. I have a friend who is a locksmith that made the keys for me to fit the door.

If the weather holds he gets new window rubber in the morning!!!!

He even has these custom reading lights that I'm not sure he came with.

And a square D disconnect that will get a second beaker for the AC/fridge as soon as I get it dry when it rains.

Will need to upgrade the plug in for a 30 or 50 amp service.

Reading light is not original. All they came with was two fluorescent tube lights. One over the closet and one over the sink.

Still have those. The others are nice to be able to see with the extra light. Want to go to LEDs before I camp off the grid. That will not be any time soon, so for now they will stay as is.

While rolling Elbert back on to the carport tonight I failed to lower the roof vent cover. Well it does not take much to bust it into about 50 pieces! So time for a new fantastic vent cover!

I've seen the same thing happen with raised TV antennas on big rigs when they pull out of a campground and go under a tree or entrance arch. Big Crunch! Too bad for you, but you'll get it fixed for the better.

Dont feel bad Chris we all do something silly. I keep mine parked undercover with only a few inches of clearance and room for the trailer and the car to be undercover while still connected. I always seem to remember to make sure he trailer vents are all completely closed before pulling it out or backing it into its spot - to bad the last time I put it away I totally forgot about the brand new bike on the roof of the car!! GURRRRR

So sorry to hear about the little "incident". We've all had them--of some sort or another. Fantastic fan has a white flat cover now that looks great on a fiberglass egg. You may want to see if they have that style. Good luck getting that back together..

Well ELBERT got his new lid and the lift arm that moves it today. Bent the old one beyond repair when I shattered the lid. So now it's on to the window rubbers. Got to find a source local. The local glass shop said they would sale me 25 feet for $100 for the rubber and the lock strip. Not going there for it so I'm still looking.

Oh yea! Just happy it wasnt my partners much nicer lighter road bike - that could have been ugly!! Good news was I was backing in very very slowly and the back of the bike seat hit the house first and the bike rack shifted on the rails it is mounted to on the car..... end result only damage done was a big cut in the seat requiring a new seat... all be it a rather pricey one. I dont feel all that bad about it as there has been at least two occasions when others in the house have driven full steam ahead into the garage with two mountain bikes on the top of the car! Much bigger bang!
