Beautiful.

Ah, the quaking Aspen that shimmer like gold in the sun. *sigh* I haven't seen them in 20 years, but have never forgotten their beauty.

Ok, picture posters, what is the secret. I managed to get 2 pictures posted on a Lake Casitas thread, but can't get any further. I've scaled the pictures down to 350X? Am I still over 80 kb? Is there a limit of 2 pictures per thread? I know this is a bad time, but everyone else seems to be having such a good time!

Bob,

When you right click your picture, and go to properties, it should show you how many KBs.

I know that with my pictures, sometimes the width and height will be larger and still be under the 80kb---so just keep resizing until you hit the magic number.

I use Adobe Photoshope and when I save the .jpeg copy, it will ask me what quality I want---from high to low. If it is something I am going to post, I sometimes lower the quality to medium----makes the KBs less.

Good luck, and don't give up!

Diane

Lost Lake near Santiam Pass Oregon.

If it was lost once it's not lost now. It's right beside a major highway.

Any photo editing program should offer a choice of "quality" setting when saving a JPEG, which is good because most of us can't afford a full Photoshop license. I like IrfanView.

Reducing the quality setting means doing more compression, giving up quality in exchange for a smaller file - it should virtually always result in a smaller file.

I would rather reduce the quality setting than resize to lower resolution - the result is likely better, and I find for most photos at the maximum FiberglassRV size of 500 pixels wide (which means 375 pixels high for typical photo proportions) a quality setting of about 80% will result in an image that fits the 80 KB limit, but that depends on the content of the image.

Of course, I always do this sort of modification on a copy of the original image, so I don't lose the full quality image for other uses.

Information is good. Lack of information is not so good, but misinformation is much worse. Check facts, and apply common sense liberally.
