First Gasoline Below $3.00
If anyone happens to be traveling through the west side of Oklahoma City on I-40 today (8/8/22) there is a Casey's General Store just south of the 138 exit where gasbuddy is showing a price of $2.99 for regular.

Amazing.
You're buying gas at a price that's actually UNDER the long-term inflation-average of US$3.20 a gallon and WAY WAY WAY under the price in most other civilized countries.
How will this new low price affect your travel plans?

It's been $3.26 here for awhile. Remember all the excitement a couple of months ago? Wonder who the Goobers will blame for these prices?

Enjoy. Don't come to California, where I'm paying $6+ for premium.

Prices have come down in my region (though nowhere near that low), but it's very uneven. We made a trip to Phoenix yesterday, and prices along our route varied widely. If ever there was a time to install Gas Buddy, now is it.
Will it affect our plans? Not in any substantive way. Longer trips have been off the table for a while due to our older teens' busy school, sports, and work schedules.

Gassed in Cedar Rapids last week at $3.42.9 wasn’t towing
So drove to Fort Wayne without having to gas. Gassed there this AM at 3.49.9 came home gas is 3.32.9. Price of gas and price of camping and price of food does not affect our travel plans. Corn in the garden is ready to pick
And freeze. I planted 300 sweet corn this year. “Montauk” from Johnnys seeds in Maine. Big ears, filled out clear to the end. Timely rains and some well water.
Spuds are ready to dig had 90 plants, three varieties Kennebec, Lasoda Red and Yukon golds.
That’s the Gas and Starchy food report from eastern iowa.
Should hold us for a while.

We're still currently at $4.60/gal here in WA, which is down from where it was, at $5.10/gal. Still way too expensive!

$4.55 here in rural upstate NY.
On Edit - 20 miles south of my hometown I found regular at $4.35. Topped off the tank & saved $3.60. While not worth the trip, I had to drive by the station anyway.

Run the math.
Let's say you have a 20 gallon tank and get 25 MPH:
Local: 20 * $5.09 = $101.8 for 20 gallons = $5.09 per gallon
24 miles round-trip away: 20 * $4.09 = $81.80 -1 gallon travel= 19 gallons = 4.30 per gallon
100 miles round-trip: 20*3.69 = $73.80 - 4 gallons travel = 16 gallons = $4.61 per gallon
Easy-peasy, take the First Nation gas.
This all depends on my estimates, "Your mileage may vary" as they say. :-)

Interesting you mention First Nations. We live on a reservation, and gas in town is usually significantly more expensive. But in the last few months that flipped, and for a good while the local gas was $0.75/gallon cheaper than anywhere else.
Now the earth is shifting again, and it's returning to something closer to parity. Every fill-up is a different calculus.
In my calculus, 100 miles is also 2.5 hours of my time, which I'd value at least $100. Add 100 miles of wear and tear on the vehicle, maintenance, etc.

gas
They say gas prices have come down 40 cents so $5.50 to $5.10 = Don't want their program-not good!! Like the $2.88 before their new program!

Gas pains
G'day: Gas price here (regular 87 octane) $1.80 per litre--roughly equivalent to 4 litres per US gallon--$7.20 not considering exchange rate.

Gasoline
$3.32.9 when I filled up on Wednesday in Eastern Iowa. Not great but better. Takes patience. And that’s one thing I have time for.

Had to take a trip over to Bath, NY (Exit 38, I-86) on 8-5-22. They must of had a gas war going on. It was $4.19 at the Kwik Fill and the Exxon across the street. Just checked Gas Buddy and the price is still the same. But here in the western part of the state it is $4.43.
The ironic part of this is that Kwik Fill haul their gas out of Warren, Pa just south of where I live here in Western New York State. It is always higher here in Cattaraugus and Chautauqua Counties, but the further you go from the refinery, the cheaper the gas gets!!! Their reasoning is "supply and demand".

Always been that way, was that way when I was stationed in West Berlin, Germany back in the late '70/early '80. TG we could buy it at the PX Exchange station. Brought it a couple times on the Autobahn when traveling and it really lightened my wallet. But public transportation and rail was really cheap. And we had free rail out of West Berlin. Either the US Military train or the British Military train. But when you got to the west, you had no vehicle.

Costco in Springfield (MO) just lowered their price to $2.88 today (8/27/22). That is 21 cents less than Sam's club and 50 cents less than most of the other near by stations.
A gas war just in time for Labor Day!
