I've never done a book before so I have no idea. Fortunately it's not a non-fiction book where I have to seek an ending. Here it's just a collection of 'Musings', thoughts that have happened on the road. Things I didn't really have time to think in a busy everyday life.
I would say that's what makes it fun. I've previously had spurts like this in my more traditional life without the freedom I now have. In cleaning the house we came across
Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, a book that shows you you can draw and draw well. It's just hidden inside. (We gave away probably a 1000 books but this is one of the few I kept.)
Yesterday I found my sketch pad, paints and pencils. I packed them to take. I came across one
painting that I took as well. There is so much hiding inside of all of us.
Back to the end of the book, I've written 22 chapters, way too much that I'm now looking over. There seems to be an overlap beyond tying things together. Looking at them after 'blast' writing them is fun, providing time to reflect, support and polish. I love having fun and this has been fun. I know many people have suggested the writing of a book but I'll be forever indebted to Ellpea for suggesting a
title that got my fingers moving.
I've now created the writing habit. When I was a kid, I had really Catholic friends who would feel guilty for not going to confession. Now I know how they feel. I've created the writing habit and now I feel I NEED to write every day.
I'm becoming habit conscious. A very good, now dead, book editor friend told me that when you turn 70 you focus more on the things that are really important.
Everyone will know when it's done. In a sense the writing is my goal, not publishing, fame or sales.
