Forum Secret

It seems lately that when anyone posts statistical facts about any subject that doesn’t match someone’s philosophy , all they have to do is post a quasi political comment and bingo the thread is closed . Simple and very effective way to force your point of view on others and perpetuate ignorance.

If it's political, go someplace else. This forum is about all-molded-towables, camping and trips. Simple actually. Often people post their opinion facts, just to troll.

I flagged the offending post before it turned political. It was COVID-related and belonged in that section... which I have blocked, not because it is unimportant, untrue, or offensive, but because I get more than enough of the same facts and opinions elsewhere. And it was shut down not because of the COVID information, but because it turned political and made references to specific political candidates, a clear violation of site policies. I note that the moderators left the original information standing for anyone to see.

Let’s keep this site about all-molded fiberglass trailers.

Funny... I'd forgotten there was a COVID section until this post popped up in the General Chat section.

You see it your way and I see it mine
Neither the OP , myself or the majority of the posters on that thread made a political statement .
The closure speaks for itself !

Seems to me that not being able to make trips due to Covid fits your criteria.

We had to cancel two trips to our neighbor to the North ( Canada ) this year
Any information regarding the US / Canadian border closure is helpful to those of us who live in the Northern border states
If someone posted about traveling to the US south due to the recent hurricanes ,I would consider that to be helpful and on topic
The same would be true for the West coast because of the recent wildfires

Thank You Glenn B

The border closure is not news. An opening of the border would be news.

We're all well aware of the reasons for the closure, and discussion of those reasons is best left to the COVID section. COVID has become uniquely divisive, which is precisely why a separate section was set up.

News about new travel restrictions unrelated to COVID would certainly qualify as a general interest topic.

As I've said before, anything, any topic, can be political if one chooses to approach it that way.
Let's talk about highways and who should pay for them, and how. Careful or you'll have the truck lobby parked in your driveway.

A review of every thread in the last, say, 30 days will show that the vast majority of threads do not become political.

Itís not hard to predict from the outset which will.

Steve is in a no win situation here. His post was most appropriate as many do not know of border closures or for the fact some States have quarantine restrictions on residents of other states entering. I ask that we please stop bullying each other and just get along.

Piling on here...

The covid section of the forum has ADDITIONAL RULES. They include:

Quote:
All Community Rules will be strictly enforced in this forum. Posts in violation of the rules may be deleted without notification based on the judgment of the moderators. In addition, posts that exhibit fear-mongering or other anti-social behavior may result in the authorís posting privileges being restricted. Please be especially cautious about posting politically charged content and be sure to report problem posts.

There has been a lot of very useful information and perspective shared here on this topic, but unfortunately also a good bit that doesn't align with forum rules. Please respect your fellow members by thinking through this before posting:

- Is it true?
- Is it helpful?
- Is it kind?

We are an RVing forum and have struggled to balance members need and desire to discuss covid related closures and concerns that PERTAIN TO RVING with general rumour mongering and political jousting.

This thread (where the initial post is complaining about moderation) is also being closed. We have a process in pace for addressing your concerns by contacting moderators directly. Please use it.

Thanks for understanding.
