If the crack is under the trailer, I imagine that would necessitate taking the egg off the frame for repair... (anyone ever have that done and know what it cost?) But if it's on the tongue area, that could be fixed rather easily.

It depends on how bad it is. I've fixed them with cracks on top by cutting out the side of the frame rail, grinding and welding the crack from inside the frame, getting a piece of channel bent to insert inside it, drill holes in the top of that piece, and plug weld it to the frame. Then weld the plate you cut out back into the frame, drill holes through the side of that to the channel you put in, plug weld it in, and then plate both sides of the frame with diamond fish plates.
If it's one somewhat small crack, that's one thing, especially if you can determine why. If there's 4-5-6 cracks you find...something probably stressed the frame, and it's time for a new one. In the case above, it was from shoddy building by the manufacturer, and welds that weren't fit for a kids toy.
