Gasoline Prices

What happen? I leave town for three days, the website breaks, and gasoline prices jump 40 cents a gallon = $2.13 for regular.

OUCH!

I found a station that was still at $1.45. Most of the rest jumped to $1.55 or $1.59 (greater Austin, TX area).

Good Old Suply and Demand

Gas jumped about ten cents here in the Twin Cities in the last week or two. I paid $1.659 to fill up today.

Arizona is out of gas because the pipeline broke, therefore everyone's price should be raised. It's that simple.
Don't you guys get it?

Makes perfect sense to me. Of course this a forced thing for the oil companies and they are not getting any extra profit at all. Don't you believe them???

I figure electric will now go up also cause they didn't make any for New York for two days.
I am amazed tho that they didn't use the "normal" excuse that a squirrel did it. I think Com. Ed. here in Illinois has killed off all the squirrels in the state by now.

Filled up today at our local co-op. 57.5 per liter at the pump. We get about 3.5 cents back at the end of the year. Has been a partial gas war for the past year since wal mart came to town. Most others are 61 less 3.5 cents when you pay at the till. That looks about 2.30 per us gallon
Will be paying 85 and up for the next 3 weeks when I head north. The most I paid on the last trip was 95 per liter at Liard Hot Springs in northern B.C. just before the Yukon Border.

Lex,

Looks like that converts to roughly 5 US Dollars per gallon? :weep

And to think we're complaining about what we pay in North America.

Then again, our public transit systems are far inferior to what you have in Holland, so it's much harder to get by here without driving a lot more.

Even so, that's a lot of dough.

$$$$$$$

It would take very high gasoline prices over an extended time to convince Americans to forget about 37 foot long, double-slide out, 100 thousand dollar RV's. If they already own them, they are going to use them.

Gasoline Prices

:wave
In August of 1990 Rosemary and I were pulling our Trillium 13' behind a 1990 Plymouth van, andcame through The City of Grand Forks ND. The Kuwait Conflict was just escalating, and gasolice prices were just starting toi move upwards in anticipation of possible supply shortages because of the war.
A slight built old man with no teeth met us as we pulled into a servic e station, and lamented that "You should have been here yesterday Son, as gas prices had jumped over 25 cents a gallon" We assured him that the displayed price of $1.05 per gallon was not a shock to us, as we came from Western Canada, where prices ( after all conversions of currency and gallon size) had hovered around the $2.45 per Imperial gallon for quite some time.
He stopped dead in his tracks, took of his little brown floppy cap, and held it over his heart as he expressed the following.
" You Canadians must be stupid to allow your government and the oil companies do that to you , If that happened here, We would have shot the bast***." We laughed and told him to fill up anyways, as the trip was well worth the investment.:laugh :laugh

gas prices

:wave got back from sidney and cairns, au last week and the price there was about .85 to .90 per liter. @ 3.78 liters =1 us gallon x's .90 = $3.40au. 1 us dollar = about $1.60au therefore: 3.78 x .625 =about $2.36/gal:r i think?

In Phoenix

Gas here has risen to $3.99 per gallon by the "gougers". Some stations still have it around $1.85 but most of them are out of gas due to a pipeline rupture between here and Tucson. Our state has no law to stop these greedy station owners from charging anything they want to. All I can say is when things return to normal--remember who tried to "gouge" you! :sad

Gene,
The consumer has a long memory, at least I do. I'm still mad at Amoco for something in 1968. I'm sure their business will suffer later on.
