I've the same
generator on our
Casita. We ran our noise test 3 years ago with the exception that we included the television and water pump. To prevent "looky-loo's" from playing with it, we also enclosed ours. The aluminum diamond plate box was insulated on the inside and leaving the box lid open on the hottest of days (100+ degrees f) keeps it cool enough. There is an access door for the exhaust, and there is no back to the box because it is next to the trailer body. The bottom is an expanded metal piece so there is plenty of ventilation. We made metal straps which go around the large wheels with a padlock tab on one of them. U-bolts go around the small wheels to complete the mounting. I didn't want any metal to metal contact between the
generator and the frame of the
Casita to prevent unnecessary noise transfer. We have received many amazed comments on the
lack of noise!
To accommodate the 2
propane tanks, the
generator and the 2nd
battery on the tongue,we extended it by 24 inches. "Nuestra Casita" has also been raised 5 inches. Technically, "Nuestra Casita" is the first "high-rise", 19 foot long Casita!
In otder to avoid the safety issues of carrying gasoline, our Yamaha was converted to operate on
propane fuel.
Current tongue
weight is 600 lbs and the TT
weight, wet, is 4000 lbs. Right at the 15% rule for tongue weight! A fair amount of steel in the frame at this point.
Our TT has electric
brakes,
weight distribution hitch, and sway control. She tows like a dream.
We've traveled with her from California to Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Utah, Nevada. Idaho, Montana, Washington and Oregon. And we are planning our next adventure!
