The Stowaway box is on a slide that moves to the side so you can get to the battery and tanks.
This was done by a pipefitter and is very nicely constructed and finished, looks factory.
There is also a very nice 2" hitch on the reinforced rear bumper.

Weren't we just talking about doing this?

I have stopped dreaming about a 5er because I don't want to lose my truck bed too!

Someone talk me down, the Sprinter is heading to the bank on its own.

Question Tongue weight

I am really curious about what the tongue weight of that might be.

I am counting on you being the voice of reason here?

I asked that of course and he didn't know but says the 1/2 ton Chevt PU he tows it with drops just slightly with it hitched.
I almost tried sitting it on the Sprinter just to get a feel for it but the Sprinter never even budges a little in my experience.

The trailer also lives on top of a giant hill with a winding, narrow gravel road up and it has rained and snowed here A LOT!

Despite all of these concerns the only real concern I have is that it is a side bath not a front bath.
I can't get into a standing position in there at all,not even a little.
I have told myself I would only consider the 5er if it were a front bath as I can stand and put my arms in the air in those.

On the other hand, how often do you see one modded nicely like this and local.

Ok I have been out of town for awhile .I just have to add my 2cents here. Go for it ,use the camp ground shower as much as you can . I mean think of this added thought...It could even mean a new( or newer Truck)

Happy Camping ......Lynn

The only justification I see is to turn your fleet into a campground motel similar to The Shady Dell in Bisbee, Arizona and start collecting rent.

Sit to shower, sit to do business. Every inch put into a bathroom has to come from somewhere else. I'd rather have more liveable room than a large bathroom. Besides the sidebath opens the trailer up because there's not a wall separating the loft from the rest. If a person sleeping wants darkness/privacy... hang a curtain.

YMMV

I don't want to take the bet either

Looks great to me, and I don't even own a pickup!

If you're looking for self restraint on FG, I think you've come to the wrong place...

This one is towed with a full sized dodge pickup....

The one you are looking at is certainly lighter and looks to be well engineered.
My guess is that the tongue weight would be around 450-500# without that box and even less if the box were moved to the rear bumper.

I love that setup! GET IT. GET IT. And if you just can't handle the bathroom, bring it to Oregon and sell it to me.

The picture Floyd provided shows a dual axle. Did scamp 5th wheels ever come with two axles?

No, Scamp has never sold a dual-axel 5th wheel. However, I met Merle Lilly when he towed his Scamp from Sarasota, FL to the Oregon Gathering.... twice! He provided us a write-up of the modification: Scamp Tandem Axle Setup

Very nice job. He obviously added the hitch mod after the axle. A continuing project no doubt. Thanks for sharing. Raz

The tongue weight on the Scamp 5er is 450-700lbs; this guy added a little extra to that. That's a lot of weight to hang on a bumper ball hitch.
