ok tomorrow is the big day, I go and get the wee scamp in Salem. Any last hour tips for towing? My mom's best advice, don't forget to swing wide when you turn a corner. My sister is going with me as the husband has to work. Wish us luck

Remember it will take you longer to slow down, too.

As long as you don't need to back it up you should be fine, but when you stop (if you do) get in the habit of walking around the trailer looking for any potential problems.

Thank you everyone for the good vibes! I am so excited I don't think I will sleep a wink! Bobby, thank you for the good advice, I will surely make the rounds at the, i'm sure, many bathroom breaks. My sister is going with and she has the bladder of a field mouse. Good thing it's got a porta potti! ha ha ha ha I'm sure the slow lane will be my only lane on the return trip. More advice from my mom, don't get nervous, don't speed if you get a tailgater, they will go around. You wouldn't know i'm 34, in my parents eyes i just turned 16 and got my license yesterday. Got to love the folks!! I will post photos when we get her docked in front of the house. chat soon

congratulations on your scamp family addition. i was very excited as well as nervous the day i took my compact II home. that was the very first time i drove towing anything and was happily surprised that nothing went wrong. the privous owner had told me that the trailer had not moved in almost 2 years and i should air up the tires. i brought along my small air compressor and everything turned out ok. good luck and many happy adventures.

here is a picture of my truck and trailer on the way home.

Hi Christi,
Made it home safe and sound! It towed like an absolute little dream. I was white knuckled for the first hour, but my sister did her best to keep me calm. After we got out of the salem traffice, which is always horrible, I was just fine and a couple of times forgot scamp was back there. Just did not feel it at all, it was amazing. I got home and neither my sister or I could back it up into the driveway so we called the handy dandy brother in law to do it. He got it in place and we all just stood around staring at it. My nephew thought it was hilarious, it's size anyway. Then I allowed him inside it and he was shocked at the space. My brother in law could not believe there was absolutley NO wasted space. So Saturday morning Neal and I hooked it up and camped out at Lost Creek Lake. it was a total downpour, but it didn't phase us a bit, we stayed toasty warm and dry! WE played yatzee all night and my parents even drove the 40 miles to come and check on us. Mom brought a box of biscotti so we didn't starve to death. I will forever be the baby to them. It is so wonderful, we are hooked on scamp! Yesterday I went to the local dollar store ( I love that place) and got all the necessities, plates, bowls, mugs, dishtowels, handtowels, aspirin etc. Even got the little rubbermade cubbies for storing stuff. My sister totally nailed what the trailers are for adults, playhouses on wheels. I was sitting in it yesterday writing out my shopping list for the dollar store and my neighbor showed up and sat in it with me. Like a little gettaway. I just love it, can't wait to camp for more than 16 hours! I will upload my photos tonight. Neal got a really good one on Sunday morning, the sun was just coming through the morning mist and it was shing down on little scamp. Very cool!

chat later,

Kristen

Hey Joey,

I love your vannie truck! Is it canadian? Neal and I have an 87' weekender vanagon. I loved driving it but the stick shift cuppler or something got worn out and they were not doing any aftermarket repops of it so, sherman as we refer to vanny, is sitting in the back yard awaiting that specific part. Great automobile though, have never seen a truck in the USA. Very cooollll. Had a wonderful ride home with scamp, she towed like a little dream! Sister and I even whipped into the local casino to "stretch the legs" a little. It only cost us 20 dollars to do it too! We had a great drive although my sister referred to my Honda Element as the tin can, apparently there is a lot of road noise. I don't notice it since every car I have ever driven has a lot of road noise. She's just spoiled with her fancy quiet cars. Thanks for the pics of your compact and VW, love them both. I plan on putting up some pics of scamp and lil sparky tonight. Sparky is the element, have yet to name scamp, but it is for sure a girl! \

My Dad used to go to a Bar after work, before he came home. My trailer is stored at work, and at the end of many work days, I just go out there and sit inside and daydream, until Robert calls on my cell phone wondering where I am.

Hi art,
Neal and I are in Medford! Small world! Neal works at Boise Cascade and I work for a local Audiologist. Some of our patients live in shady cove. I was actually raised in Sam's Valley, so I know all about shady cove! That is too cool!

That is too funny! Tonight before I took our little cairn Terrier(terrorist is more like it) to her obedience class i went to my "playhouse" and did a little reorganizing. I swear it is like when you used to build forts in the living room using the dining table chairs and lots of blankets, it just gives you that nice cozy little feeling. It's weird and funny all at the same time. I love it.

ok, as you can all tell, i'm not so crafty with the uploading of pictures. But, I guess it wasn't as bad as it could have been. Hope you enjoy the pics of the family. Yes the dogs are the kids, stella is my little girl and wallace is my husbands pride and joy. They both keep us on our toes and they cannot wait to go scamping this summer!
