Got my new baby. Smells new-looks new!! I am thrilled. I had a hot wire installed when I had my hitch installed. When the previous owner demonstrated the scamp details he forgot to turn off the 12V switch. Soooo.. when I parked for the night-not staying in the TT-It KILLED my car battery. Simple jump saved me.I now have a better understanding of WHAT NOT TO DO!!! Lots of questions ahead so I'll thank you guys in advance for helping me. Planning a sleep out this weekend!

We had a similar story after our first night/day in our Scamp. We killed our Scamp battery because we left the fridge running on the battery instead of the propane... don't do that either.

Happy travels,

Crystal

FYI: When I had the 12 volt "Charge Line" installed in my Tow Vehicle at Camping World, they also installed directional diodes in the line. This allows current to flow only in one direction, to prevent the Trailer from discharging the Tow Vehicle's battery.

There is also a relay system available that is installed in the Tow Vehicle that disconnects the "Charge Line" automatically when the key is removed from the ignition.

Either system allows the Trailer's 7-pin plug to remain connected, and the Trailer's 12 volt systems to be operated, without draining the Tow Vehicle's battery.

I hope this helps.

I concur with Frederick. I always advise folks to have one of these options installed in their tow rig.

I have the simple cable set up. Drilled a small hole in the dinette bench, wire coils up on top of the converter... and runs out the electrical plug in door to the outside. No holes drilled through the shell.
