It was my son's 7th birthday last week and we gave him the choice of having a kid party or going a family camping trip....he chose camping...Yahoo!
We set out Friday night after work to the Fraser Valley to our favourite little forestry campsite, Chehalis. I was surprised when we arrived how many people were there, at least 10 others...apparently it's fishing season. We picked a really nice river front campsite....in the dark. Set up was easy and then on to roasting marshmellows and drinking hot chocolate.
Saturday morning was beautifully sunny and we enjoyed a fun road trip up to Hemlock Mountain Ski Resort.
After lunch we carved pumpkins and roasted seeds over the fire...Yummy!
We had a small rain shower but nothing to worry about.
In the evening we lit the Jack-O-Lanterns, enjoyed the fire and watched our neighbours
light off fireworks....the boys loved it!
It did rain all night but stopped in the morning so we didn't have to close up camp in the rain.
All and all a great weekend and I highly recommend carving pumpkins outside....easy clean up!
