Not camping...having some friends over for homemade ice cream (recipe below) and a campfire in Paul's new firepit on the terrace (sounds fancy but it's not). Doing all the yard chores we didn't do since Paul retired--and the year he was redoing Peanut...

Take 1 quart whipping cream and whip it to stiff peaks.
Take 2 cups Karo syrup (clear,
light or lite) and add any desired flavorings, such as peppermint or cocoa powder for chocolate and mix well. Then fold into the whipped whipping cream.
Spoon into individual serving dishes and freeze at least 4-5 hours.
(It does freeze up pretty hard--if you freeze it all together you will play merry heck getting servings out of it. But oddly, individually, it's easy enough to eat with a metal spoon.)
It is surprisingly good and doesn't need a special machine or ice or hand cranking.
Bon appetite!
