And, if that doesn't work, try a blue one!

Good point , but I often see whole lines of traffic completely ignoring emergency vehicles approaching from behind with full lights and sirens.
They need an APP for their cell phones to show traffic on the screen!

I don't care for DRLs but one thing about them has always bugged me. Every vehicle I've noticed that have them, when you go to start the car, the lights come on during the crank/start mode. I would think that having them come on after the engine starts would be preferable for less battery draw during starting .

If your battery is in that poor condition, you need a new one.
What's your problem with DRLs?

Correct with the battery condition Glenn. Just seems like a useless draw on it during starting but may be a moot point with the headlights used today. The only problem I have with DRLs are the 10 million CP blue ones .

If you set the E-Brake most DRLs stay off.

No taillights for one.
They encourage incompetent and irresponsible driving for two.
At best they are just another crutch.
Hey! Why don't we fix it so you can text any car within a hundred feet so you can remind them to turn on their headlights. Heck most people seem to be texting while tailgating already anyway!

Not at all like those, which are in no way like each other.
Not everyone who rejects one specific new idea is a Luddite.
As a general rule, the best advanced ideas come from automotive people, the worst from bureaucrats... The former are generally accepted when they have merit, the latter are generally made mandatory without rational consideration.

While pulling my scamp I happened to be passing a Acura MDX pulling a trailer, and you could see the tale wagging the dog effect. The other driver never slowed down, and when I looked at them they were laughing and chatting in the front seat. All I could think was how could they not feel their whole vehicle getting pushed around by their trailer. If that had been my vehicle I would have been very worried and would have pulled over imminently. I really hope they made it to their destination alright.

I am not confusing the two. The DRL's are on when it is bright outside and then all the lights come on when it is dusk or slightly dark like in rain. Tail lights aren't needed in bright light. I can't drive at dark with my tail lights off. I know the DRL's are headlights only but fortunately my vehicle has the other light feature. I never turn on my lights. They are automatic. In fact if I go to where headlights are to be off for some reason I have to turn them off. I have a GMC Yukon and a Chev. chassis motorhome and both are the same.
