Have gone back to the Dark Side
After selling our Scamp 19 last week we purchased a Coachman 24.7 5er with one slide. Was a great Scamp Camper and ended up selling for a good price. After spending two weeks in October the climbing up and down to the bed for my wife really messed her hip up. After we got home my wife confessed that she just couldn't do the climbing without pain. So, after quickly selling ours we found a used 2004 in great shape. Sold the Colorado and purchased another Chevrolet 2500 HD. With the help of a friend we installed a new 15K Reese Slider. Reservations were premaid for Monday at Grayson Highlands in Virginia. So, sold Scamp, bought Coachman, sold Colorado, bought 2500, installed a hitch. I really need a camping trip to relax. I have enjoyed the talks and friendships made. I will always have a fondness for the eggs but most importantly is to continue enjoying camping and making great memories. Hope to see you eggers at a campground in the future. Enjoy life and camping. Ted

Hey Ted. Have to admit those big 5ers are roomy.
Stick around. You have some valued egg/rv/towing experience that folks appreciate.

Fiberglass vs Stick
We have observed people climbing up several stairs to enter their stick built rigs. One reason we will stay with our one step fiberglass.

Ted,
Best regards with your new venture. You've been around long enough to know the benefits and limitations of the FG genre. In the words of John Wayne, we (I can only speak for my wife and me, not the whole forum) respect your decision and wish you all the best. Happy trails!

Best of luck. Without an egg you'll be hard to spot so if you see our Trillium in the OBX, do stop and say hello. Writing from Ocracoke Happy travels, Raz

I will stick around. Enjoy the people here and helping anyone in need. Our Coachman is a 25' with one slide so no climbing up and down to get in and out of bed. We also plan to do some camp hosting next year at Ocracoke NC if all plans out. I will keep my eye out for all you eg gets.

Hey guys been a while. Some sad and some good news. When we sold our Scamp 19 in 2015, we found out a year later that the lady that purchased it died three weeks after the purchase from unknown leukemia. She never got to camp in it. Her son called us to find out what all I had added because he was selling it. So sad! Good news is we’re still camping from the dark side. In 2016 we purchased a new 5er and just last October we purchased a 2020 Chevrolet 2500HD Custom. Spending April and October at the beach each year with mountain camping in between. A little older but no wiser. Still have fond memories of our past eggs and each time we see one on the road it brings back the memories. Stay safe and keep camping!

Nice looking outfit!
We maintain both a stickie 5th and a boler.
Each has their place for us plus the 5th has
anonymity,,, nobody wants a tour or a story
about how they had one 30 yrs ago.

Not the “ Dark Side” but the “ Right Side “ for you .
Really nice looking truck
We have looked at 3/4 ton trucks on numerous occasions but just haven’t pulled
the trigger YET .

Congratulations on the new rig. I think the last time we saw you might have been at the Cherokee rally a few years ago?
We sold our Scamp last Oct, but are still in "glass" since we upsized to a 19' Escape.
I like the 5th wheel campers but so many of our friends were finding it more difficult to climb up and down into the top that we decided to stick with pull-behind camper. If we keep the Escape as long as we kept our Scamp then I'll be a couple birthdays on the other side of 80 and I'm not 70 yet. :-)
