Hobey Melton Has Passed.

On Aug 31, 2021 my dear friend and camping buddy Hobey Melton lost his battle with liver cancer. He passed on his 80th birthday. We camped, drank beer and got into mischief many times since we first met in 2008. When we camped back when I had a Scamp 13 and he had a Scamp 16 he would tell everyone that mine used to be as big as his but it shrank when I washed it. We had many good times together. I will miss him.

Sorry to hear that Dennis, we met Hobey at the first Florida Scamp camp we attended. You introduced us over a campfire and a few beers.
He was very welcoming to us ,so sorry for the loss of your good buddy.

Sad news indeed. We had the pleasure of crossing paths with Hoby many times. Last time we camped with him was when he had a rented camper delivered to his spot.
I'll never forget his special blow-through fire poker.

Some years ago we happened to camp at the same time as the LBL get together in a different part of the campground. He and his wife came by for a visit and made us very welcome. Just nice folks.
